My thing is this, i believe that the gays are entitled to the same rights as everyone else.. this includes marriage, and adoption.. forget about what society says does or doesn't look right.. 44 years ago, society believed that Blacks didn't look right.. and they went as far as segregating them. before that, society, felt that blacks weren't entitled to the same rights as whites, and so they had no rights.. and even farther back than that, they believed that blacks were inhuman.
society had convinced themselves that blacks were animals, because the idea of enslaving fellow human beings, didn't sit right with them.. so as long as they believed that blacks were animals, it was ok to make them slaves, in that it was no different than using oxen, to pull a wagon, or a horse to pull a buggy. and there was certainly nothing wrong with using animal labor. later on, society believed that black and whites didn't look right together, and ostracized them, and made it so that they couldn't marry. Some states even went as far as banning or refusing to recognize an interracial marriage.. Some will also argue, that homosexuality is an abomination, as stated in the bible.. but if the government were to ban gay marriage because of what is written in the bible, then how is that a separation of church and state? And now, society doesn't think that it looks right to have a child being raised by homosexual parents. Bottomline, society isn't always the best thing to go by.
As for this issue,
I believe that if 2 people are willing to be loving, and supportive parents to a child then i believe that they should have the right to adopt a child.. end of story.. you have plenty of screwed up hetero-sexuals out here who bound, abuse, rape, and murder their (adoptive, and biological) children, and yet people are worried about the gays?
People will likely argue that homosexuals adopt children just to molest them, but all of the child molesting cases i've heard on the news, involved supposedly happily married, straight fathers or mothers.. and ultimately, the majority of the cases i've heard about were fathers molesting their daughters. As much as most people in this country appear to dislike homosexuals, you'd think that if they ever had a case involving a homosexual child molestor, (i'm not saying that they don't exist) that they'd be quick to point out the fact that he/she was gay.
I remember hearing on the news that this man, killed his 5 year old child because he feared that his son was turning gay..
I also remember hearing about a mother drowned her baby because she found out that the couple interested in adopting it, was gay.
And yes, lets not forget
Vanessa Jackson who had 4 children of her own, and adopted
Bruce Jackson (bruce is the one on the right, and in that picture he was
19 years old) and
his siblings, and
starved them.
All 3 of her daughters, are morbidly obese.
Come to think of it, most of the child abuse cases that i've heard about, involved heterosexual couples. If you ask me, i think that
heterosexuals are the ones who need to be screened when it comes to adopting children.
What is this world coming to? Since when does the sexual orientation of a child's parents take precedence over that child's well-being and happiness? Since when is the sexual orientation of
anybody our business? What people do in the privacy of their own bedroom is their own business.
Consider this, if there is anyone appreciative of having/raising a child, it is gay people.. why? because 2 men or 2 women can't biologically conceive a child, and aren't willing, or can't afford a surrogate to help them conceive/incubate the child so because of the fact that they cannot do this, then that is all the more reason for them to not take it for granted..
As for the whole "A-Child-Needs-A-Male/Female-Role-Model" argument, that has got to be the biggest line of b.s. on the face of the earth.. a child needs someone to look up to.. a strong role model to bestow values, and teach them the importance of doing the right thing.. someone to pick them up when they are down, and encourage them. and that can come from anyone.. regardless of their gender, or sexual orientation. But that's just me.
What are your thoughts on this? :B):
