Title: Screw Norton

Black Angel - May 19, 2006 07:22 AM (GMT)
fucking firewall.. pisses me the fuck off.. i uninstall it because it is eating too much of my memory.. by this time i am suspicious and think that it is a trojan.. i try to run the executable and the fucker doesnt even launch.. i go to the program files folder for that program and find no uninstall file.. so i boot up in safe mode, and delete the folder and remove the registry entries for it and restart.. that is when i discover that i can't connect to the net.. i reinstalled the firewall and here i am.. what pissed me off is that NORTON disabled my firewall.. when i uninstalled norton and tried to run my firewall, it wouldn't run...

FUCK NORTON..

Dark Mage - May 19, 2006 07:34 AM (GMT)

whats your web browser?

In Windows its Opera, but in Knoppix (linux) i use Konqueror, it's like a cross between firefox and opera.. i'd use opera, but i haven't figured out how to install a program on an linux O/S that runs off of a cd..

Dark Mage - May 19, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
So is that bad?

VirusZero - May 19, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)

1- Aeon situation closed. end of story.

2- norton always seemed to be crappy for me, it never caught/prevented alot of viruses despite it's advanced bloodhound heuristics detection system, and when it did register a virus i still had to always go and manually remove it, even if it was one that never triggered or was in a zip folder. it also never stopped any viruses from getting on my system, i got hacked twice with viruses implanted that should have been removed upon entry. plus i found that it consumed so much of my pc's system resources that it literally took 10 minutes to start up the computer. (even though the computer is still fairly good, its a 4 yr old compaq presario 6000 with 1.53 ghz amd processor, 256 ram, 60 gig hd, dvd drive and cr-rw drive, which i still have and it still works perfect. )

3- people can flirt with who ever they want, as long as it goes no further who cares.
you can't control other people and trying won't help. if both sides understand that it's not serious (which flirting is just for fun anyway right?) and they are cool with it then we should be too.

Black Angel - May 19, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
you aint lying about that.. get this.. i was under attack a few months ago.. long story short, i did something i shouldn't have... and i ran a norton scan on my computer and it found nothing.. i downloaded and ran an avg scan, and it found 42 threats.. i am not joking one bit.. i got sick of the stuff that was going on, so i just formatted and reinstalled windows.. since then i have not used norton..

thefishofdoom - May 19, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
ya i try to tell my mom an dad that norton sucks but they dont lisen
Thx god i have my own comp there is virused up the yinyang

Black Angel - May 19, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
you should link them to my and vz's previous posts.. i had a very good firewall, but Symantec bought the company that manufactures it, and the firewalls are now discontinued, as is the ability to update it.. so i've no choice but to go with zone alarm.. i hate that firewall because it is so hard to configure.. when i figured it out, it still killed net access for my programs..

BlackCloudX - May 19, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
i got a good firewall...cuase i use NETGEAR works pretty perfect for me...

Dark Mage - May 20, 2006 12:47 AM (GMT)
I use Trend Micro Internet Security,it is really good.

Black Angel - May 20, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
I used to use Sygate, that was the best firewall i have ever used.. but like i said, Symantec bought the company, and that is why i cant update my firewall anymore.. hell i cant even change any of the settings..

Dark Mage - May 20, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
Well,that SUCKS,don't it?

Soul_Gatherer3000 - May 20, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
I hate foozschmunkichitty Norton, HATE!! I have to shut off the interntet security just to get on the internet, what the bloody schma kinda cizzlenud is that?

VirusZero - May 20, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
heh, i still have sygate, and it still works fine for me (i don't get any new updates but oh well.) as for antivirus i get mcaffee for free from my university. and i have that installed on both my laptop and my home desktop. i use to use norton but it let me down so much, and after i got hacked for the second time ( the hacker inserted a version of the fx bropia trojan ) and norton never stopped it despite it recognised it instantly. then when i went to get rid of it i had to download a special tool from norton to remove it. then i had to reboot in safe mode, run the special program and then run norton, it took about 6 or 7 hours to get my system back up and running again virus free.

Flaeb - May 20, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
i have norton....i dont know what to get thats better :/

Black Angel - May 20, 2006 02:43 AM (GMT)
i have avg.. that is what i am using for the time being..

VirusZero - May 20, 2006 02:44 AM (GMT)
heh, you could probably use no antivirus and still be better off than using norton

(please dont actually try this, there are just to many viruses out there now to be careless.)

thefishofdoom - May 20, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)

You use McAfee!?!?! I H.A.T.E. McAfee!!!!!!!!! Try Trust, or I think that's what it's called, I haven't had any problems with that at all. McAfee would not let me play Halo, I read in the manual that some AntiVirus systems don't allow it, just so happens that it's one of those.

Also, yeah... "I wouldn't be caught dead using those things" ~ Sonic. Both Norton and McAfee can kiss my rear end! Along with a few others.

As for B.A. I wish I could do something to help you, but:
1. I have no clue where you live
2. Even if I did, I may never be able to get a drivers license because I was born with an eye problem *sob*

Soul_Gatherer3000 - May 21, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
Norton Internet Security - Disabled, that's what it says when I place my pointer above the Nortan symbol with the red circle and a white x at the bottom right hand corner, ... stupid Norton, Norton Must DAI!!! x infinityinfinity+infintiy.

thefishofdoom - May 21, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
yes use avg in sted

Mystic Mage - May 21, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
All windows Xp users use Norton though!

VirusZero - May 21, 2006 11:51 PM (GMT)
all xp users use norton? no not all, but a good portion do.

well avg may be free but so is mcaffee for me, and i could use it but 2 antivirus scanners would use too much system resources to be worth it. though i may get a copy of avg and have it in reserve just in case something happens.

thefishofdoom - May 23, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
lets see it

Black Angel - May 23, 2006 06:43 AM (GMT)
look i dont know what this health and safety business is all about.. but if it will help protect you and your country, then it can't be a bad thing, now can it? whatever the case, it has nothing to do with this topic.. if you wish to discuss this then, by all means, feel free to start a topic about it, and make some logical arguments as to why you feel it is a bad idea.. instead of posting how you want to take an AK and kill them.. it makes you sound irrational, unintelligible, and unintelligent..

MaranX - May 23, 2006 08:22 AM (GMT)
I use Avast and I'm happy of it. Eariler I was using pc cillin and, oh my god the viruses destroyed all the system. When I got Avast it found abou 250 viruses    Pc Cillin is a crap. I don't know much about norton but my pal had it and he wasn't happy of it :idontknow:
