Title: No wonder..
Black Angel - June 12, 2006 05:59 PM (GMT)
my comp has been acting screwy lately, and i figured that i would run a scan on my registry, and see if there were any problems, and this is was the result.

they were all fixed.. and since then, my comp has booted up faster.. how often do you scan your registry? :)
neo - June 12, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
lol well now do you know a lot about comp. i presume.
Black Angel - June 12, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
i have been working with computers for about 17 years... (i started working with them when i was 8) and i am majoring in computer technology with a concentration in networking.. so yeah i guess you can say i know a lot about computers (and a tiny bit about keeping them secure..) :)
neo - June 12, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
lmao well now i think we have the winner of the "its not nessesary" aword! lol

:ermm: ok..
neo - June 12, 2006 06:49 PM (GMT)
i mean you dittent think its nessasary to read up on your secruity booklet.
Black Angel - June 12, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
nah.. its always necessary because it helps to stay fresh on the knowledge you know? the more you read, the easier it becomes.. but this wasnt about security per se, er i suppose you can say it was.. but my computer was lagging horribly, i mean it would take 5 minutes for my computer to boot up into windows.. but i am glad that i got to the bottom of it..
neo - June 12, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
then every 2-3 weeks check your securety thing.
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
every 2 weeks i check it and my computer is normal i got no problems with anything...i guess less active X using would help your computer out XD
EDIT:nice sig and avatar BA

thanx omega.. :) i guess you are the only one who noticed
but yeah i should have checked sooner.. because on my computer, files leave as fast as they come.. there is a lot of moving, deleting, and editing of files on my computer, ans as a result it leaves fragments, as well as invalid entries in my registry.. :)
Dictator - June 12, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
Well my mom makes websites, my dad builds computers, works with network processing and my uncle does basically the same thing. It's odd that a majority of my family does something with computers, and the thing is I'm learning more too. I can already access the adminastration privledges which my dad should only be able to, but do to the fact that I have them I've been able to learn more.
My first solution for every problem, is find your own REASONABLE one.(I.E. Someone tries to pick a fight with you it's not reasonable to fight back unless it's the only option.)
Anyways, that's just how I start to learn about computers. I first began when i wanted to make websites, started studying HTML and tried Java, but that's a harder coding.
*EDIT* Good job though BA, 3000+ problems, that's a lot.
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 08:16 PM (GMT)
meh! when i was just a kid my dad have me his computer and got a new one he said i had to take care of it myself...i was just a kid ok but i pushed the CD harddrive to open and i put a waffle and shoved it up there
and like a week later i got like 7000+ problems lmao
Dictator - June 12, 2006 08:20 PM (GMT)
OMFG, that's hilarious! That's probably the funniest thing I've ever heard Cloud. So your dad tells you to take care of it and you try to by not letting it starve. >_<
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
yeah i used a whole lotta foods one time i cooked a chicken and put it in there XD the computer was down for some days and i was like "YOUR STILL HUNGRY!!! ILL GET THE SYRUP" so...i got that and damaged it more...it was sooooo funny i asked my dad to do a check up on it and it was worse! it got a broke down my dad was like "takashi computers dont HAVE FEELINGS AND GET HUNGRY JUST WTF WERE YOU THINKING?"
 and yea i got a new computer but for some reason it wouldnt work so i got a plasma TV computer thingy ma jig and i take care of it a whole lot better
we learn from our MISTAKES
Dictator - June 12, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
If computers were organics, yours would be fat...
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
eh it would have to digest but if can it can digest all those problems in your computer out would be cool if it can...
Black Angel - June 12, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
lol that was a cute story.. and thanx for the compliment sae.. i suppose that is what i get for waiting 2 1/2 years to scan my registry..
my computer has been scanning for viruses for the last 14 1/2 hours, and it is still not finished.. wtf?
Dictator - June 12, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
Um, major virus infections?
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
she will find out if they are major when the scan is done right?

you should try pop up cop.. they are the best at handling pop ups.. you should also look in to a different browser.. i use opera and it has a built in pop up blocker.. but i use pop up cop for ie.. they are the best at handling pop ups.. i tested it by going to ng and clicking a link..

| pop up cop free? |
yes and no.. you can download it free on their website
http://www.popupcop.com/it is a 30 day trial.. after that you'd have to register..
VirusZero - June 12, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
heh i run my antivirus and ad ware scanners every monday night at 9-12. but i don't check my registry as much as i should, the tools i have are outdated and may be ineffective, i really need to get new ones.
my popup blocker is IE's basic one and it stops just about everything (only thing it misses is the about:blank ones.) i know i should probably use a better one...
and as for coding javascript i'm attempting to learn atleast a few lines, html i knew a bit, actionscript i know some ( and so far is helping make the javascript learning a bit easier. though i'm still having difficulty with the variables. )

Dictator - June 12, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
Whoa! Calm down there Cloud.
anyways, I don't even reember what I use for pop ups, but it works. Also, for my scanning I use AVG Anti Virus. It's free.
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
man sae i am sick sick sick of these pop ups they arent right its porno warez etc...i dont like it it gets annoying
Dictator - June 12, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
Oh I see. I hated those on my last computer. I hate because sometimes when your about to click a link to somewhere one of them pop up, and it's especially those porno ones you should hate, according to what my virus detector said there were tons of viruses kicking in from those sites on my old comp. Yeah, just my personal reasons I go against pop ups now that Cloud mentioned it.

BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)

ill tell ya teh resulats after the next post :)
Dictator - June 12, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
I went to NG once and I had those frick'n emoticons. You know what, my sound was up pretty loud and I didn't know it so, I had a real surprise from this burst of, "HELLO? HELLO? HELLO? HELLO?.." and so on.
Black Angel - June 12, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
 oh yeah? try being on the computer late at night at your moms house, and suddenly you hear a woman's voice saying "Hey there, wanna have some fun?" bdx has his speakers up loud..
Dictator - June 12, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
lol, I'd creep out. Especially since ahlf the time when I'm listening to something on the computer something like that really does happen but I think it's just part of what I'm listening to and later, it does become part of it. lo, but that'd be scary.
Your mom saying, "Want to have fun?"
BlackCloudX - June 12, 2006 10:36 PM (GMT)
i disabled going to NG i disabled it after i became an elite (FFSX)

LOL imagine he never comes back it just stays so...
BlackDevilX - June 13, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
SAE DONT POST LOL
Like i tell my sis. all you need is firefox and Service Pack 2.
Firefox prompts for those "auto installers" so nothing can sneak by it. Also you know those stupid things on aim with viruses? even if you managed to click by acciden, firefox will ask if you want to download the file, and of course your going to say no if its a weird format!
And Service pack 2 comes with a pop-up blockler, for the added security! I have these 2 thigns and it keeps my computer safe
Flaeb - June 13, 2006 01:46 AM (GMT)
firefox owns, i never had comp issues running firefox as my browser, and zero pop ups and having adblock, and getting noscript....its pretty much impossible to get a virus or any issues unless u download something stupid
