Title: Character parties in my RPG
Description: Should I or shouldn't I?

Dictator - June 17, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
So in my RPG I decided to have this feature but I'm a bit tired and when I made it I was tired. so it may just be bad all together. Should I have something in my RPG that alters the story so you can either have or not have people in the party(I.E having an item allows you to not have a character in your party for the game, or you can still have them.)

thefishofdoom - June 17, 2006 02:40 PM (GMT)
if you dont want to dont

Snowflame - June 17, 2006 02:58 PM (GMT)
Me think yes because sometimes story lines can be long or short. But with more characters its cool.

I agree with snowflame

I can help you with party changes if you need help figuring out the events.

Dictator - June 17, 2006 03:17 PM (GMT)
Nope I have the events, it's just now I'll have to use more conditional branches and stuff. I already said on my RPG topic it'd be a lot of work and it'd slow progress down but I can do it. Right now the part I have with Blunt looks good.

Gameshrk90 - June 17, 2006 03:28 PM (GMT)
Sweet. I find it easy to just to make one room for changing party members and just have it where there's an item where you first set a warp spot go to the party room, then when you leave you go to the set warp spot.

i think so couse not all the people have the same strainth right. so it at least should be there part in the story. and if there sapose to loose do and intant battle.

Snowflame - June 17, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
Imagen your charaters in your sign in the RPG Neo.

VirusZero - June 17, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
just remember that the more characters you have the more characters need to be leveled up if you intend to use them. (unless you somehow make a condition that all party members get some exp from every battle so they all level up at the same rate.)

Snowflame - June 17, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
yeah, that was i was thinking.

Dictator - June 17, 2006 10:27 PM (GMT)
I understand, which is why by the end of the game you can have only one character or all. I could probably create a common event that give experience to members not in the party.

Dr.Tails - June 18, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
that would give it re-playabilty so im gonna have to say yes, you could play the game like three time for the ultimate gaming experience. ^_^ :D

VirusZero - June 18, 2006 04:23 AM (GMT)
is there anyway to have different endings if different characters are used for the final part? (because if there is then that would be great for replayability) and plus having different bosses for each different party?

Dictator - June 18, 2006 04:51 AM (GMT)
Actually I could do that. By using certain variables for different parties, and conditional branches I can switch the story up. Dialogue can be switched in the choices. So, I guess I'll stick with the idea.

me i got a RPG game in my computer that has two bosses that are very strong, it took me half a year to finish the game.

Soul_Gatherer3000 - June 18, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
I sez yesness.

Dictator - June 18, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Well this RPG may not exhist if my hard drive has to get wiped.

VirusZero - June 18, 2006 10:54 PM (GMT)
if you have a flash drive or another method then you could easily back it up to save your work if you needed to wipe the comp.
(i have a lexar usb drive and it's about 29.95 CDN at walmart for the 256mb version) or you could always back it up to cd/dvd if you have a burner.

Dr.Tails - June 18, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
how do you use those flash drives, i tryed once and i didn't know how to open it or put files into to it

Dictator - June 19, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
I'll probably get a CD tommorow to back it up. Just in case I need to wipe my comp. Brother had viruses and I'm not sure what they've done yet, most likely what ruined my firefox.

VirusZero - June 19, 2006 04:57 AM (GMT)
to use a flash drive just insert it into an open usb port, then wait a bit for the computer to realise it's there, then go to my computer and look for the name of the device, double click on it to open it then from here you can drag/drop files ono it, save them from an open program or however you want. pretty simple once ya get the hang of it, though it may not work on school comps because of the restrictions they may apply to the pcs there.

Dictator - June 19, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
Well I don't have a flash drive, ust a load of burnable CDs. Since they have 700 MB of storage I'm pretty sure I can fit everything I need to, I thought I'd do it today but I never got the time to so, I'll make sure to do it tomorrow.

Dr.Tails - June 20, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
seeing how you can't work on the game anymore i guess this topic is done with huh
