Title: Euthanasia

What do you think? does a person have a legal say over whether or not they want to die? State your position here.

Do you think that Dr. Kevorkian was wrong for euthanizing those people? people called him a murderer which i do not believe is a fair assumption.. :)

Its better than seeing them hang them selfs

Sephiroth - July 1, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
Yes.....but only and ONLY if that person is suffering from a painfull and incureble deacese...other than that i call it murder.........

Black Angel - July 2, 2006 08:23 AM (GMT)
it is not murder if they are seeking the person to euthanize them.. that is why i did not agree with the people labeling Kevorkian a murderer..

the difference is a murderer goes around seeking people out and killing them, sometimes for the sake of. In Dr. Kevorkians's defense, the people were the ones doing the seeking, people from all over the globe, came over here just to be euthanized by him. Mind you, i dont condone that what he did, but his services were requested by patients, or their families. he did not seek them and that is why i believe that the label "Murderer" was unfair.

He's no murderer. I agree completely with Black Angel, and with what Fish said. If one is miseral they should have the right to end their life. They shouldn't have to live through something terrible, diseases, life support, or other ways. Look at the Terry Shylo case from last year. There was no way she would be cured and come back to her old life, yet they maintained her on life support. When the government cut her from that life support were they murders? No, because she was basically already dead.

Now in this case where the people seek the doctor, it's not murder either. He didn't kill, or rest, the people without them knowing, or willfully wanting it. This was not an inhumane act and therefore can not be considered murder.

I think Euthinasia is okay. It's better to just have someone want to end their pain and have it done so if their in a medical situtation and are hurting a lot and are just going to die anyway. I also push for the euthinasia of stupid people, but that's just me.

That would not be euthanasia, that would be murder.

Personally I'm not sure if euthanasia is okay, but sometimes when I see that people are feel huge pain and the death is inevitable, i think that's a good soultion. However I heard some stupid story which it seems to be true. One doctor had a patient who was severly ill. No one was hoping thet he is gonna be healed. The doctor who was looking after him noticed that the state of his patient is growing better. He started to think that probably in about week we will be able to stand. Well, he went on the holidays and when he returned he was told that his patient is dead. He was shocked  He thought that his patient's health is returning, so why did he die. The doctor who was replacing him give tha patient an euthanasia. The first doctor asked him why did he do and he answered: "The state of the patient was bad and... I needed a bed for the new one". Think now, was it an OK euthanasia? :-_-:

Well...i see some of us have diferent opinions about this matter...like i said before i aprove euthanasia if that person is suffering real bad.....but other case than that i think that (well maybe murder was a hard word) people shouldn't end their lifes just because they feel sick....in a way this resembles with suicide....when a person feels bad about herself or any other matter that torments her....well....that person imidiatly thinks about comiting suicide....now comparing this situation of despare with euthanasia, i would say that they're pretty much the same....since you're putting an end to your misery, when you had the choice to live.......

What the replacing doctor did was illegal and unethical, and in that case, it would be murder as opposed to euthanasia.. You have to specify your wishes via living will and you have to name a health care proxy in order to do that. The health care proxy is the one who has to make the decision if, in the event that, the patient is no longer able to think for himself, and has jurisdiction over the family and so when the time comes for a decision to be made, they will call on the proxy, and not the family.. I know because i used to take care of my great-grandmother, and she made me her legal power of attorney, and her health care proxy, and so when ever she needed somthing, or the nursing home needed permission for something, they called me, and no one else.

I was told this story in school few years ago on religion lesson. The teacher was a bit strange. But she was telling us many strange stories like a guy was convicted for the death punishment although he was innocent.

That is another reason i don't agree with the death penalty.
