I used to hate these people, but i just feel sorry for them. especially those southern whites who hate blacks.. :( i have seen a lot of these neanderthals online, in shatrooms and in forums... and it just tickles me when i hear them say stupid things like "go back to africa" and other stupid things.. when in truth, and as history serves, we (yes, for those of you who didn't know, i'm black.. hence my name, "Black Angel") would not be here if it weren't for the fact that they brought us here because they were too damn lazy to do their own work. Not only that Africa was a very rich country at a major point in history.. These people really piss me off but the thing that keeps me from hating them, is the fact that they are ignorant, and choose to be that way.. the sooner that people realize that diversity will make us stronger, the better this world will be for all.. i am against no certain race, class or ethnicity.. i treat everyone equally, that is just the way i was raised. but i would be lying if i didn't say that i was angered or disappointed by the actions of these people.. seriously, when will people realize that one race isn't better than the other.. blacks are not better than whites, just like whites are not better than blacks. we are just different. we all need oxygen to breathe, and food to live. we all bleed red blood.. so tell me what is the point of racism? :(

I got news for you.. those people who claim to hate blacks are at least 2% black themselves.. why? because after the blacks were freed, the whites in the south were GREATLY outnumbered.. and so who is to say that they did not integrate with them? It's no secret that the slave holders raped and beat the black women.. HELL a few U.S. presidents had mistresses who were black.. Black Supremacists- Theres also black supremacists, AKA people who are racist against whites. There isnt all too much of it, but they're the guys who blame white people for absolutly everything, and never realize that its different nowadays then it was 200 years ago.

very well said Xer0, (welcome to the forum) you are right that things are different.. but they are not all that different.. no sir.. true, slavery was abolished, and overt racism seems to be a thing of the past, and yes, while there are some people who blame whites for their problems, or their lack of success, when they aren't doing a damn thing for themselves..

there are also a LOT of blacks out here who bust their asses, to try and do better for themselves, and are still treated un equally.. in life and in the workplace..

It is no secret that men make more money than women..

White men make more than black men do.. even if they were doing the same job.. but the difference would not be as noticible as it would if it were a man vs a woman..

if it were a black man and a black woman doing the same job, i guarantee you that the black man would make more..

So the way i see it, black women already have 2 strikes against them by the time they enter the workforce..

1. They are women..
2. They are black..

So not only do blacks have to work harder than whites in the workforce to be taken seriously, but black women have to work 3x as hard to be taken seriously..

True, i didnt mean it was COMPLETELY different. God knows that theres still racism all over the place, but what i meant was it wasnt quite as complete and overt as it was 200 years ago.

What you mentioned about the workplace is also true for the most part, but what about college? Today, a white male has the least chance of getting into college. Supposing we compared a white male and a black male with the same education, and SAT scores. Most colleges would actually choose the black male due to pressure to have more diversity within the campus. Lets say that someone even more exotic... say from Egypt, applying to an american college with LOWER SAT scores and less credits then the black and white guys i compared earlier. He would still have a really good chance of getting in.

As my dad once said, in this day an age, if your a white male, you gotta work your ASS off to get into a good college.

That aside, while i do realize that racism does still exist today in quite a few places, im getting a bit pissed when these polititians try to use racism as a stepping stool to fuel their political point. Lets take Jesse Jackson for instance. He skips from town to town and feeds off every case involving some sort of either "racism" or possible rape case (take the recent Duke case for example) and then skips town soon afterwards to the next one.

Yes, I admit that affirmative action isn't doing much to improve race relations, and is contributing to the problem, but it is about giving minorities the same opportunities, as whites.. Some colleges also exploit the fact that have a diverse student body for the wrong reasons.. Instead of them saying that they are proud of the diversity, and mentioning various programs and activities.. they try and capitalize on the fact that they have more than 3 black students in each class.. whether it is for recognition, funding, or to gain an advantage when compared to other schools of their caliber..

I believe that that students should be accepted according to their performance.. money, race, sexual preference, or gender, should have no bearing on that student's acceptance.

So if you have a black student who schleped his way through high school, and his
grades are evident of that, then he should not get in.

But if you have a black student who busted his ass and worked hard to get into a good school, then he deserves that chance.

If you have a rich student who parties all the time, never went to class, or showed any type of regard toward his education, and only graduated because his parents put in a lot of money at the school he attended, gets into college because of his parent's money, and feels that he is entitled to everything because of his parent's money, then i am sorry, but that kid doesn't not deserve to get in..

But if that kid, is looking to get an education, and get into that school based on his performance, and hard work, and not on the amount of money he has.. then he deserves that chance..

That is how it should be.. regardless of race.. You should have to work your ass off to get into college.. I am sick and damn tired of the rich kids who think that they are entitled to everything because they are rich.. if you want it, and you work hard for it, you deserve it.. end of story..

Yes, I agree that there are those who unnecessarily play the "race" card, on certain situations..

However, Activists such as Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton speak volumes to those who put up with being treated like a second class citizen, or being treated like shit due to their race, because they do not know where to turn, or what to do or are afraid to take a stand.. these people need a voice, and they need someone strong enough to stand up and fight for them, they need someone who will say that we are taking a stand, and are not going to tolerate the abuse anymore and that they will not get away with it.. Whites refuse to acknowledge the racial problems existing today, they tell themselves that racism is no longer an issue, and so they need their eyes opened to what is going on and that is exactly what Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson are doing.

These men do a lot for the families of people like Amadou Diallo, and Abner Luima, who were victimized at the hands of whites who thought that they could get away with it because they were white and their victims were black, by increasing awareness to the racial problems that still exist today.. the whites who are constantly targeting blacks because of their race think that it is ok, and that blacks won't say anything about it, because even if they were to tell anyone, "no one would believe anything that comes out of a nigger's mouth" or that they can easily "sweep it under the rug" but that is where they are wrong.. Activists like Sharpton, and Jackson, stand up and they bring these issues to light, forcing everyone to see it, and not just the offenders and the whites who are kidding themselves.. and I am willing to bet that if the role were reversed, then the whites would do the same thing..

Some people tell themselves that it doesn't happen anymore, rather than acknowledging the fact that there are still problems between the races, and doing something about the injustice.. and these people need their eyes opened.. and so, until there is equality between races, and people are treated the way the deserve to be treated, regardless of race, or wealth, then there will always be a need for activists such as Jackson and Sharpton.

As for the Duke scandal, something is definitely fishy.. on both sides.. i can't put my finger on it.. but something isn't right about this case..

here's a situation regarding college for different races.there was this program this year that, if u kept ur grades up, u could get some money for college in the future.i'm an honors student, so it was open to me, or so i thought...i got home and was reading it, and it seems that this was centered to the minorities, or ppl with low incomes, which made me mad!i work my ass off to get my grades, and then i can't get into this program because i am in the "majority"?!i'm srry that i was born white, and that my parents knew how to save and work hard..........wow, srry, i got a little over-the-top there.i hate the "race" card.ppl try to bring that up when a common accident or disagreement happens so they can sue the other person for all they're worth. owned well not really owned....well ppl i had to use at least one smiley! ;D

I believe that if you work hard for it, then you deserve it. end of story.. i dont care how much money you have, or what race you are..

If you worked hard for that program than you should have gotten into it..
