neo - July 14, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)

you seph you know anything you love japan also.
Dictator - July 14, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Well I'm not familiar with the language but I sure love the history.
BlackCloudX - July 14, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
no we do not call our clas mates sempi we call our teachers sensei
we say stuff for example my name
Takashi kun that means im younger than the person who is talking to me
Takashi san means im older than ther person
and chan is to decribe girls you cant call me Takashi chan cuase im no girl
i think i got it mixed up...im lazy right now
VirusZero - July 14, 2006 11:03 PM (GMT)
i know cosa means mother, niichan means (older) brother, dosa means father, yamaiya means stop/stop it (though the spelling is probably incorrect)
thats all i really know about the japanese language.
Dictator - July 14, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
Ok, Hai means yes, eeyae(don't know the spelling) means no...
BlackCloudX - July 14, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
i know japanese but im not good at teaching it XD
VirusZero - July 14, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
yeah, languages are hard to teach. i doubt i'd ever be able to go anywhere and teach english like i wanted to. (any student i taught would end up more confused than they started because half the time i don't have my grammar, syntax, punctuation right.)
Dictator - July 15, 2006 04:45 AM (GMT)
Well, if I taught english people would think the ice cream on an ice cream cone was the cone...
I understand why Cloud wouldn't want to teach Japanese also, it's a hard language to learn because some words mean different things, according to online translaters...
neo - July 15, 2006 05:31 AM (GMT)
yes very thats all i needed to know.. but there may be more once im stuck on a thing on the anime shows.
BlackCloudX - July 15, 2006 12:31 PM (GMT)
if you watch jap in anime with subs you might learn some jap by saying the word and stuff
neo - July 15, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
yah i know. just need to know why there were so many names for 1 person.
MaranX - July 15, 2006 02:29 PM (GMT)
maybe, when I will learn english enough I will try myself in japanese :B):
Sephiroth - July 15, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah...you're right i love japan...in matter of fact i would love to go there one day...but i don't know they're habits, at least all of them...but i sure love their culture and idials of work...
VirusZero - July 15, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
yeah it would be fun to go to japan and see what it's like there, though it is a long flight in...
BlackCloudX - July 15, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
VZ depending where you live in canada can make the flight shorter like the yukon province (something like that) but when i got to japan in august its gonna be a hella long flight though i have fun there brings back my childhood memories
Dictator - July 15, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
Alaskans get the quick flight...

XD you got that right and so do the people in the ring of fire
VirusZero - July 15, 2006 08:18 PM (GMT)
im on the other coast of canada so it'll be a long flight for me either way... and it is expensive but oneday when i have more money i'll go.
Dictator - July 15, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
Same, I'm in Ohio, the mid-southern part. I doubt I'll have the money one day though.
neo - July 16, 2006 02:16 PM (GMT)
how bout that thing there making to send people to the brink of the atmisphere and back down. that would cut flying time in half. like the 18 hour flight would be 9 hours or somthing like that.
Dictator - July 16, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
Going to the atmosphere and flying down sounds fun. Though I'd probably get unlucky, have whatever suit they have you wear with some flaw and then I'd burn to small pieces as I fell down, either that or I'd run out of oxygen...

the plane will tear apart into pieces and it wouldnt be 9 hours
you wouldnt even reach japan so tough luck
neo - July 17, 2006 09:15 AM (GMT)
they said it would be about 2037 befor they made it so you could do that. but maybe i could be wrong on the date. 20-50 years or so.. so it may be made by then. im not sure.
Dark Mage - July 28, 2006 11:20 AM (GMT)
I learnt about 3 years or Japanese,but I can't remember most of it.
BlackCloud's name is Takashi,if you didn't know. (I think,it's his MSN name.)
VirusZero - July 28, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
i'd love to learn the language, i hear it's tough but i'd still like to learn it.
Dark Mage - July 28, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
Dictator - July 29, 2006 10:17 AM (GMT)
Yeah, even if you learn it it's still hard to speak it fluently.
Dark Mage - July 30, 2006 07:22 AM (GMT)
So true, I know that for certain.
saphirekitty - February 27, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Right now i'm teaching it to myself. here's an example:
"En kitai en kan sou shuugyou nicchuukou o za shaurai"
Translation: I hope I can learn japanese in the future"
I hope i said it right :blink:
Dictator - February 27, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
From what I know you made some mistakes, but don't take my word on this as I'm not an expert >.>
I've learned that Watashi is I, me, or myself in Japanese. Never heard en being used. Japanese in Japanese is nihon-jin as well, for that I am certain. The rest I'm not sure of since my japanese vocabulary is limited >.>
saphirekitty - February 27, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
there r many words for it:
hon'in, warawa, watashi, watakushi, ore, ware, and en
Dictator - February 27, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah but there's appropriate time for each of them, I en would be it there. Not sure. I usually use Boku or Watashi.
A.J. The Echidna - February 27, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
Funny, I thought Japanese was Nihongo in Japanese.
Dictator - February 27, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
That refers to the actual language they speak,the nationality is nihon-jin and the Japan is just nihon. English is eigo. That was a mess up on my part mainly, but yeah Japanese(Language as she was referring it as) Is nihon-go while a japanese person or nationality is nihon-jin.
VirusZero - February 28, 2007 12:06 AM (GMT)
As for what I know of the language itself I don't know alot and I have trouble remembering alot of it, I only know these words as romanji, I'm still trying to learn how to write it... but with my limited time to study another language due to university studies, it may take a long time for me to learn it:
desu = am
ka = ?
ikimasu = (to) go
ryuu = dragon
oba-san = aunt
hai = yes
ichi - 1
ni - 2
san - 3
shi - 4
go - 5
Dictator - February 28, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Iie = No
Anata = You, them
Watashi = I, me, myself
Boku(Guys only) = I, me, myself
taitike = enemy
wa = subject marker
ga = topic marker.

Well seeing as how thsi discussion has gone many ways...I know a bit of Japanese from watching all those subbed anime. I know about the honorfics, or for those who don't know what they mean...The words used at the end of a person's name. For example...Link-san. Means Mr. Link. It's just a way of saying mister, and showing respect...lol I'd like to take hours explaing this, but I'm short on time...So check here.
Japanese Titles aka Honorifics
saphirekitty - February 28, 2007 12:18 PM (GMT)

Link - March 1, 2007 05:24 AM (GMT)
Yup it's kinda true. But nothing is better then being a native speaker.
Dictator - March 1, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
I'm proud to speak english as my language though. it's alot tougher to learn then japanese is. But Japanese is a language I'm going to stay constant in hopefully ^_^
