Title: Sonic R

coolman - July 19, 2006 07:04 PM (GMT)
Does any know sonic R, an old racing game with characters such as sonic, tails, knuckles, amy, eggman, metal sonic, puppet tails, mecha knuckles, robot eggman, and super sonic, hard courses, hard to unlock characters

Shadic_X - July 19, 2006 07:29 PM (GMT)
Hard to unlock? I unlocked everything in less than 2 hours. The game wasn't very good. When you pick a character you have to go against the same characters everytime. Also super sonic can actually lose.

coolman - July 19, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
yeh, sonic and mecha knuckles could beat him

VirusZero - July 20, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
i know of and have this game... i barely play it but i do have it.

Link - July 20, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
I have it, both the origanal and the Gem Collection version. The courses aren't hard, and the charcters weren't that hard to unlock...It was easy to beat, and it only took exactly 2 hours to unlock everything like Shadic_X said.

Shadic_X - July 20, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)
It took me 2 days to unlock everything the first then I accidently deleted my file and I knew where everything was so it took only 2 hours. I have the gems collection version.

coolman - July 20, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
My cousin had the game I was like 6 or 7 when it camed out

Dark Mage - August 1, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
Has anyone heard of the curse of the Tails Doll? It's about Sonic R.

coolman - August 1, 2006 07:20 AM (GMT)
not really...

Dark Mage - August 1, 2006 07:51 AM (GMT)
Well,I'll get the link off my friend when he's on my forum.

I'm definatly not fond of this game, as you can so plainly see in my review for Sonic Gems Collection. By the way, here it is if you didn't read it.

Remember Sonic Mega Collection? Well our buddies at SEGA and Sonic Team decided to make a sequal, which has good and bad qualities. Introducing Sonic Gems Collection! To start off you should use a brand new Gamecube Memory Card cause this game takes up a lot of space. This collage of gaming oldies starts with Sonic The Fighters. Not only is this the only Sonic fighting game but it was originally made as a joke by replacing the fighters in Virtua Fighter with Sonic characters. It's story basically has you fight random Sonic characters in a usual two victory battle limit to collect special emeralds to fly in Tails's one man space ship to Robotnik's space base to fight Metal Sonic and ol Eggass himself. Short but fun, even more fun with a friend!

Travis: I beat you with Amy! HAHA!
A.J.: SHUT IT! I'LL MAKE YOU SQUEAL LIKE A PIG!
Travis: AHHHHH!

See?

Sonic CD, the only SEGA CD game that didn't stink the house down. It was never once touched by Yuji Naka in it's development and came out a great game. Basically the story goes that every year on one special day, Little Planet comes into Mobius' atmosphere. Dr. Robotnik, wanting to rule Little Planet and destroy Sonic once and for all, decides to chain Little Planet to a mountain range and creates a robot named Metal Sonic that kidnaps Sonic's new friend Amy Rose, hoping to bring Sonic there to kill two birds with one stone. Speaking of stones, the guys who made this pulled a George Lucas and replaced the Chaos Emeralds with Time Stones, gems that can warp the user to the past and future, which like all Sonic sidescrollers can be found in Special Stages. A great game that brings back memories. Through the dark to the light, it's a super sonic flight. Gotta keep it going!

Since I don't even wanna touch the Gamegear titles, here's Sonic R. For those who remember the short lived SEGA Saturn, this little game was a footrace that had Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Robotnik racing on foot(Or in Amy and Eggman's case, cars) for some reason unknown to me. I really didn't enjoy this game and I won't do it any justice by writing any further.

Final- It don't even need to put a final because this game REEKS!

Anyways the collage of games is decent but should only be bought for Sonic CD.

coolman - August 10, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)

Sephiroth - August 10, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
Well...for me it was...

Dark Mage - August 26, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
It was just running races.

Sephiroth - August 26, 2006 05:09 PM (GMT)

BlackRyuX - August 28, 2006 12:14 AM (GMT)
I like the music.

BlackDevilX - August 28, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
You guys, are nuts. Its because you are comparing it to otheer major racing sgames. back in the day when sonic r came out, it was AMAZING. it may not be fun now because of all the new sonic stuff, but yest this game was GOLDEN. Only downside was once you got supersonic, the game was pretty much over....

ThunWind Hog - August 28, 2006 04:03 AM (GMT)
Good point...

Dark Mage - August 28, 2006 05:50 AM (GMT)
True, but it was a ok game, still is,but it's nothing compared to the new Sonic games.

Link - August 28, 2006 06:10 AM (GMT)
Like BDX said. You guys are comparing it to games that have come out after it. It was amazingly great back when it first came out, but now it's not as impressive when you look at other Sonic games.

Dark Mage - August 30, 2006 06:06 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't know,I didn't play it until just before New Year's Eve.

Or maybe later.....

Link - August 30, 2006 08:10 AM (GMT)
Then you'd probably never know how it was back then...I got it for my PC the first time I saw this game. It was pretty fun, and I loved playing it.

Lloyd T.H. - September 18, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
sonic R was a good game back then, and its still is to me. "you can't beat the classics!" I always say!

blazermax - September 18, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)

it just goes to show you how much this world has advanced with tecnology these days o.O

Dictator - September 19, 2006 12:01 AM (GMT)
Sonic R, I never got used to that game. I never will, but its graphics weren't bad for the time.

Shadic_X - September 19, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
The game is mario kart 64 without karts or brakes.

ThunWind Hog - September 19, 2006 12:57 AM (GMT)

Yea

Dictator - September 19, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)
See I was a fan of the original Mario Kart, I'm not really into Mario either, but Sonic R wasn't something that grew on me. Were the controls worst on the Gamecube?

BlackDevilX - September 19, 2006 05:25 AM (GMT)
Sonic R had the cheesiest music in the world. Its like...well you know in Sonic adventure once you heard Amys theme, you were like Oh GOD!! make it stop! Well after awhile, youll be saying it. But sonic r was pretty unique! i would like to see one like that for the Next Gen systems, bt like i said..once you got super osnic...it was over.

Mario kart 64 is AWESOME! it was SOO much faster then the new ones. me, BA, and couple of our friend used to come over to play mario kart. Im practically untouchable. Yoshi all day.

Sephiroth - September 19, 2006 04:28 PM (GMT)
I too love mario kart 64...

technogeek - December 3, 2006 11:05 PM (GMT)
