Title: Why?
Black Angel - July 24, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)
Why is it that as soon as June rolls around, they are all talking about summer as if it had just begun, but, as soon as July is about half over, they start talking about back to school.. when i was a kid, i dreaded August for this very reason. Has anyone else noticed this, or ever felt this way? :)

i have and still do feel this way, and i'm gonna be a freshmen in high school next year...NO!!!!! cya well, i'll deal...*sighs* school starts up at the end of august...

i think it all has to do with marketing, because in the middle of july parents are anxiously awaiting the return of children to school, why? because this means the parents have a breif period each day that they can do what ever they want, it's like a parent's vacation. and because of this the marketing companies use end july/august to start the parents thinking of the start of school and then the parents can use this time to buy any necessary things before school starts (cause even public school can be expensive)

yeah i understand that, but for the longest time, i dreaded august because i thought that it meant the end of summer.. i mean even now, as an adult, i understand that it doesnt, but i still look at it that way.. even though, summer ends on sept 21. i dunno i guess i always felt that anytime after sept 1st is fall..

Well,in Australia,it's different,we start in Janurary,and finish in December,and only get 11weeks a year of holidays, that's the
ONLY reasons I'd wanna move to America as a teenager.

Well...here you start in september and fifnish in june and have 3 months of vacations...but yeah i agree with you BA...people tend to think that when june ends summer is coming and all the fun is on our way but some time later people start to talk about going into school, about getting the school books and other materials...in my opinion that's just marketng like VZ said, it's thanks to publicity that people think that way, because in june television shows all those things you can by to have a pleasant summer and have a great time...but a few time later you will see television advertising school products and how school is getting more closer...this is the power of marketing...the power to crontrol peoples minds...

lol I've got no problem with going back to high school...(Strange no?) But the fact they advertise stuff for school a month and a half before it actually starts annoys me, and makes me feel like it's coming too soon. This is probabaly why I hate waking up on the first day of school.

I await school. My freshman year of high school was very enjoyable and i've made lots of good friends(i miss them xD)
I can't wait for my sophmore year.

Wow... This is kind of weird, posting in an old topic... BUT.
The reason for this is because we start to lose interest in the summer. A lot of us can't hang out with all our friends so we want the social activity. It's the reason for me at least.
I'm kind of excited this year because I'm gonna be a freshman, so it should be sort of different.
