I think Eggman is faster. Why? Ever since the beginning of Sonic history Sonic hasn't been able to succefully catch up to Eggman. Especially look at Sonic 2 on the Flying Fortress. You chase Eggman and he's just that much faster. Look at S3 and K it happens on the Death Egg again.

And since when in the 3D titles has Sonic been able to chase Eggman? NEVER!!!

I agree with you Sae, eggman is fast as hell...no matter how hard i tried to catch him with sonic, he would always be faster...pretty strange for a fat guy...i wonder how he did it?...

Maybe it's only a fat suit. Underneath he's a track star with booster jets. I also tried to catch him with the debug code. he just went faster.

I know...it's very ood, anyway everything in sonic's world is ood...like the white gloves for example...why does every character of sonic games have white gloves?...what's up with that...if they belonged to disney i would understand but...

Not exactly in the last level os s3&K eggman starts to run like hell to is emerald machine and sonic doens't seem able to cacth up with him...so has you can seeeggman is fast...i even think that his much more fast than me...

i don't think so much it's because robotnik i fast (i highly dobut he is as fast as sonic) but i believe you can't catch him in the games is because it would ruin the game, see-
sonic 2- robotnik is weakest when he has no machines, so it would be an easy/cheap way to win and then you wouldn't be made to fight that gigantic robot.

(either that or for a storyline way of explaining it, robotnik has a personal force feild which prevents sonic from coming to close, the downside is robotnik knows he can't hurt sonic with it so he just uses it to get to his gigantic robot.)

and for sonic 3 and knuckles- the doomsday level, sonic does catch up to him and can even go infront of him when it's just the ship but as for when its just the robot, he can't because it would be too easy to beat it from the front.

(but storyline wise- it's because sonic realises he has to take it out and grab them master emerald, just jetting past robotnik would make him run the other way so it'd do no good to try it. so instead sonic pretends he's slower and then hits robotnik then since robotnik thinks sonic just got a lucky shot he dismisses it.)

Everything you said is right VirusZero...if sonic could hit eggman all the times he runs from him, the story would end there...but still you got to admit it...robotnik amazingly enough boots incredible speed for a such a fat boy...

sonic is only slower because botnik put some glue-ish liquid on the floor they run in. thats what i think, anyways

I still like the force field idea, because the robotnik speed boots would in essence mean robotnik can make himself and his machines faster than sonic, which makes sonic not the fastest thing anymore...

the only thing that prevents a forcefield from being cheap is that it would require alot of energy to produce a force field for a long time (far more than possible with normal methods).

I believe Sonic is faster the only reason you can't catch up with him is because it would make it to easy and you could just kill Robotnik instead of fighting his interesting (And rather stupid) Machines. I mean on Sonic 1(Might be sonic 2) he has a car, with the slowest engine possible. So yes, I think that Sonic is indeed faster it's just to make it so you don't kill Robotnik.

Yeah. The game would be nothing without Robotnik to screw everything up. That's why he came back after Shadow the Hedgehog. He wasn't killed, he was just pimp-slapped.

Im Have to go with sonic, the only reason Sonic couldn't catch eggman is because he flys off, but if it was on foot its a done deal

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.... Level before the death egg.. Sonic couldn't catch... I'd say now that Sonic lost some weight he's faster though.
