What P2P (peer-to-peer) programs do you use? Why?

Do not state what you use them for.

I use BitTornado, and Winmx.. Yes That's Right I said Winmx..

It was shut down by the MPAA and RIAA last year, and it is still alive and kicking. :)

Those are the only 2 programs that I use.. I hate limewire and kazaa with a passion.

i use limewire pretty much exclusively for my p2p stuff, i used to use imesh but after i got tired of cleaning up all it's ad-ware i got rid of it ( i will admit though it did have alot better results on searches... less x-rated crap, more of what you actually wanted.)

What exactly does a P2P program do?

instead of downloading stuff from a server, you download them off of another persons computer(one 'peer to another). there are some problems. mis-named files or stuff that is worngly accesed.
you also put your files up for downloading(if you want to).
i too used Winmx once, and i still do.

Yes ans no it all depends on the file you are looking for.. i like bittornado better than winmx for many reasons.. you can get one file off of a LOT of people, as opposed to waiting for someone to finish their download before you can actually start your dowload.. (winmx)

winmx is fast, but it depends on your settings.. i have once downloaded at like 250k per sec, and higher.. but i use these two programs as supplements for each other.. if i can't find it on bittornado, then i will definitely find it on winmx, and vice-versa..

I decided not to install WinMX since I'd rather not screw up my computer. I run on wireless connection so I'm not directly connected to the internet and I'd have to know my port address just to install.

I thought p2p was person to person

if you get winmx from oldversion.com, or vladd44.com, then you will be fine..

if you get it from a site like

winmxunlimited.com, or any other place offering it to you for a price, then you know that it is a fake.

Winmx has no adware, or spyware, and so if you get it from anywhere other than oldversion.com, and vladd44.com, then you know it is a fake. :)

but its an open source p2p progam that has a powerful search, and allows diffrent catagories of search such as images, programs, and audio. you can also search audio by genre if you like... and read my earlier post too
