I was sketching today, and while on my IM someone gave me this great tutorial. it helped me learn proper steps, though that's not what it was there for. it was originally created so i could draw Sonic but naturally I learned the steps to drawing other things then that while doing it. i wish i could show you the sketch i made but I don't have a scanner. how much do scanners cost anyways?
You could buy a new printer with a scanner on it...
if you go to pricewatch.com, you will find a lot of scanners at various prices, and you can sort by the prices as well.. i go there for all of my computer stuff..
