Some are but I say no... I mean if you got a crap form then your from needs to learn how to behave with detention and crap
At least in my school you get one chance and one chance only... then it's detention detention detention... people learn faster that way

no. the best teachers are the ones who stay on your ass to make sure that you succeed in life.
The best teachers are the ones who push you or challenge you to make sure that you not only succeed in school, but in life as well.
The worst teachers are the ones who try to be your best friend. Your teacher is there to teach you, and not be your best friend.. after all, you can always make friends in school anyway.
VirusZero - October 5, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
but there is a point when challenging a student becomes merly picking on them. if your getting pointed out alot, often unecessarily, mocked/ridiculed by the teacher, extra homework and find that you get nailed for such minor mistakes others have it brushed off, then yes i'd say there is a problem.
my father had this happen to him, and he proved it was happenening by he copied off another student word for word on a test, when he got his mark (it was a 50% and the person he copied from got a 90%) back he took his test and the girl he copied from and went to see the principal, and when he got to the principal he covered up the names and asked the principal "these tests are identical so why are the marks so different?"
I advise against trying this now, rules are much more strict and the penalties are harsher if you cheat.
Mystic Mage - October 5, 2006 04:43 PM (GMT)
The best one is the one that keeps the class most disciplined... Without discipline School is free and you can choose to learn or not... althought it's gonna effect your life
VirusZero - October 5, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
actually there is a school in my area that doesn't use alot of discipline, the students are their own teachers, they choose what they study and when. apparently it works extremely well because the students are learning what they want, so they're interested and less likely to cause distracions because they're bored. (i believe it is a private school though...)
Mystic Mage - October 5, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah... Well we have to do a variety of things:
Sometimes we get to chat while we go our work
Sometimes we do it in pairs or groups
Sometimes we have to work silently when we work... but not that often
Sometimes we get to play games...
But when it gets out of control then it's discipline... When it happens over and over then it's constant discipline...
If you see how that works...

Teachers aren't evil. I like a lot of my teachers no matter the situation. My teachers try to help me when I don't do homework because they know I can achieve more then what I do. The best teachers will try to help you. Even if my teachers yell at me though they have a good reason and it's that understanding that says no.
How can a teacher be evil anyways? If they teach bad? If the students don't learn what they need to? If they don't care? I wouldn't call that evil but it's bad and there are teachers like that. In my opinion a teacher can't be evil but bad.

Could it be that the teacher knew he was copying off of another student? And that was why he got a 50%? Even so, that is still pretty lenient.
My teachers would have given me a 0, called my parent's, and I would have been suspended.
He could have taken the test, and then checked it against the answers of someone who got a 90%, or 100% and then he would have had his proof if the answers he and the other student got, were identical.
Otherwise the teacher would have been justified for giving him that grade..
I heard that if you cheat on the Regents, or the SAT, that they call the cops, and you could be expelled from school.
Though, that may have been a scare tactic.. either way, it worked, because I have never cheated on anything.

Well that goes without saying. That was why I made a point of saying challenge, but as we all know there is a vast difference between challenge, and abuse.
I admit that a teacher saying that a student doesn't have what it takes to succeed in school is harsh, but it all depends on the students' personality.
If the student is determined to 'prove the teacher wrong,' than that approach would work.
But if that student is clearly having trouble, then that approach can be deemed as abusive or harsh.
Teachers are different, and have different methods.
My high school earth science teacher used a lot of humor in his lessons. I remember one day when the class was literally half asleep.. it was the first day of class after our christmas break, and it was the first day of our second term.. it was also the first class of our day, and because we were all sophomores, we started 30 minutes earlier than the freshmans.. (they started at 9:30) so the entire class were zombies.. Mr. Baker, my teacher for that class, came in with a huge grin on his face.. put his briefcase down onto his desk, and wrote on the board "What is relative dating?" and repeated the question out loud. One kid said that he didn't know, and Mr. Baker said, "Wrong. Anyone else?" and another kid actually gave the right answer. and Mr. Baker said "Wrong." After about a minute of silence, he said, "A very bad idea." I laughed my ass off. Mr. Baker started laughing too.. The kids looked at me like I was crazy.. and after they thought about it further, they started laughing too. After that, he started the lesson.
Mr. Shaeffer, my second-term biology teacher, was funny, and he used his own terminology for different parts of the body. When we learned about the reproductive, and excretory systems, he used the word 'plumbing.'
Ms Horne, my final Sequential Math teacher in high school, was mean. She would yell at you for not doing the math problems the way she wanted you to do them.. as in using her method.. and she didn't like to be corrected either. She was one of the best math teachers I had ever had. She yelled at me for doing the problems my way, which was faster, easier to follow, and check, and it left no room for mistakes. In the time she wrote out this elaborate formula to solve the problem she put on the board, I had already solved it, and checked it, and found out where she went wrong, and had already started on my homework. She hated that. So when she walked around the room to check to see what we got, and she saw that my result was different, and she assumed that I was wrong. She yelled, and then told me that I was wrong, and then told me to write my answer and how I got it on the board. I did. and when she realized her mistake, she smiled and said that she misjudged me. After class, she said that I would fail the regents because I don't listen, and didn't know how to do the formula.
I passed the regents with a 93. She was the first person I told. She said that she was not in the least bit surprised that I had passed it and then congratulated me and told me how proud of me she was.
I could say more, but I won't. But yeah, my point is that different teachers have different teaching strategies. Whether or not they work for you, depends on your personality.
Dark Mage - October 5, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
Yes and No.
I say yes cause when I'm not doing something wrong, and the others in my class are, such as not shuting the hell up,I get kept in as well and I'm the one who has shut up.
I say no,cause as much as I hate to believe it,teachers are there to help, though sadly, they have different methods of doing it. :(

I hate it when you know the awnser to the question and they delay you to the very last, when people keep putting your hand up... Then someone else always gets the awnser before you get a chance to speak
Dark Mage - October 7, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
I hate that as well,it's happened to me a lot.

i go to university and i have some good teachers or prffessors
but some are just as bad and i think they should get fired...they piss me off...
my bro goes to a technical school called TECO i went there years ago and the teachers there can be either nice or evil since TECo is a A school the teachers and the school itself has became so serious about their work so they can stay an A school ....TECO= a hell of teacher problems to handle though i never got any :)
VirusZero - November 20, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
at my university we have 1500 different classes in a wide range of fields, and the profs i've had so far have all been pretty good, aside from the lastest set of massive amount of work they ask for all at the same times.
Mystic Mage - November 20, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
Right if anyone want's to come to my school bring some muscle... intellegence and a million excuses not to get detentions also bring some cookies
Muscle, you need to fend of fights and stuff
Intellegence, to beat the bullies and get high marks
A million excuses, since teachers always beleive them if they're good and not repeated
And some cookies cause i'm hungry!
A.J. The Echidna - November 23, 2006 02:08 AM (GMT)
As far are fights are concerned in my school, I seem to miss them all.

To me, it isn't if the teacher is evil. It depends on the amount of homework they assign.
