You all know who I am. No, no that crazy guy. Well......yeah, that crazy guy is a good way to put it but anyway I'm here for a different matter. Some of the bright ones in the crowd could obviously tell what this topic is about but just as a reminder, this is my OFFCIAL(by my standards as GMod and loyal Nintendo gamer) Wii countdown topic. For those of you who don't know what exactly the Wii has in store for you, here are two very important links for you to check out.

http://www.wii.com - The official Nintendo Wii website.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii - The Wikipedia entry on the Wii. Now locked for your fanboy flaming protection needs.

Did everybody enjoy their complimentary Or-Wii-Os? Good. Anyway, each day i will post how many days until the Wii comes out and post a little tidbit about Nintendo's various gaming dealies. Until the big day, post your stuff. The system is goin to cost the least of the three next-gen systems but will cost $249.00 Wii are the people!

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!! WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!11!!!!!!!r0x0rZ111!!!!!!111

Nintendo History Lesson!

If you thought that the DS broke new ground by introducing a microphone feature into the handheld console market, then you don't know much do you? Sure the mic on the DS is cool but the concept of a microphone for a Nintendo system goes all the way back to Nintendo's first system. No, not Game and Watch or NES but the Family Computer or Famicon. The original Famicon had two controllers that were hardwired to the system. The second controller had a little microphone that was considered pretty high tech back then. The mic feature was hardly used in the Famicon's lifespan but it still helped pave the way for Nintendo systems and games that would use microphone technology, like Okama, Hey You pikachu, and of course the Nintendo DS.

You know, you have a good point. I heard about the Xbox and the Xbox 360s having issues. However, I bought my SP on launch day, and I played on it for 5 hours straight that day without a problem. And you can't really say anything about Xbox's or the Playstations because those are completely different companies. And if there is any game related company that I trust, that would be Nintendo. I have not had problems with ANY of their systems, and have always enjoyed what I bought from them (keep in mind I do not own a game cube or a DS). I still have the original gameboy that works as if it were brand new. So I entirely trust Nintendo with the wii, and I cannot wait till the day that I can walk in the store and say to the salesperson in best buy "Hello, may I have a wii please? :)

Snowflame - November 16, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)

Today's Nintendo Fun Fact!

Most people know that Microsoft bought Rare Ware, the company behind such classics as Star Fax Adventures and the Donkey Kong Country series. What most people don't know about is that rare had a mascot. that mascot was a little squirrel named Conker. Conker first started out as a cute kids icon. He had his own game for the Game Boy Color, Conker's Pocket Tales, and was a driver in Diddy Kong Racing. Before long, a Conker title was announced for the Nintendo 64 by the name of Twelve Tails: Conker 64. Because Rare Ware didn't wants Twelve Tails to end up like all the other cutesy platoformers out there, they revamped the game for a more mature audience. In 2001, Conker's Bad Fur Day was unleashed upon the world and Conker went from a happy-go-lucky adventurer to a booze-loving, weapon-toting, pistel-bouncing icon. Conker's Bad Fur Day has had a remarkable cult following and was ported to the X-Box last year as Conker: Live and Re-Loaded. As for Rare Ware, they're stuck doing nothing as of now.

The ps3 probably won't have bugs as bad as the X360 did because sony took the extra time and made sure it was working (the ps3 was supposed to be released back in march but because of problems it was pushed til now. so because of this majority of the bugs should be sorted out.)

ramenradio - November 18, 2006 03:17 AM (GMT)
I don't mean to get off topic, but I heard some pretty bad things about the PS3. I heard that the hardware was kinda cheap, and that it isn't work a value of $530. Anyone happen to know more about the PS3? Because the info I have is very depressing and sad. :'(

A.J. The Echidna - November 18, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
All I know is that there are gamers getting trampled, shot, and mugged and they still wait for their PS3's. They are the true dedicated people of this nation....except those asses who just sell their consoles on eBay. They suck.

VirusZero - November 18, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
well as far as worth goes, it's a blu-ray player and standard blu ray players alone go for 1000$
the system is actually rather expensive but sony actually set the sale cost so they are losing money on every ps3. (the processors they're using aren't cheap as well as the gfx card and ram. the hard drive size though helps keep the cost down)
the physical strength of the console is enough for normal use but don't expect to be heaving it off a 2 story building and play it afterwards.

ramenradio - November 18, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
lol, what are the specs on the Processor?

VirusZero - November 18, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
here's what i've found:

sony's costs for making the ps3:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/746/746482p1.html

the ps3's hardware specs
http://www.ps3power.com/ps3hardwarespecs.htm

wow it seems the ps3 has 7 cpus... isn't that a bit overkill, some servers have less...

ssquirrelkid - November 18, 2006 04:09 AM (GMT)
every one thinks that sony is loseing money frome this but it is not becaues they are in a scense advertising blue ray so blue ray is giving them money to put it in thier console thats wha ti think

ramenradio - November 18, 2006 04:18 AM (GMT)
hmmm... Did sony make the processor themselves?

VirusZero - November 18, 2006 04:23 AM (GMT)
don't forget sony is helping to pioneer blu-ray, so they don't get much (if any) money from it (no body actually owns blu-ray it's just different companies use it to try to make it the standard.) if you look at the analysis you'd see they are still losing money on the ps3, it could take 5 years before they start to make any money on the systems.

the real place sony makes money is from the games.

ramenradio - November 18, 2006 03:41 PM (GMT)
I never ever get that kind of process. I just don't see how that could work! I mean, yes, I know in order to make money you need to spend money (at least in that line of business) . However, 5 years before they start making money off of the PS3!!?!? Just seems too long.

blazermax - November 18, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
tomorrow is the big day of the Wiis release. Im gonna get it along with the zelda twilight princesess

Today's Nintendo Fun Fact!

I'm a very lazy guy so no real update today. However, after going to the G4 website I found this. Check it out.

Unless you are one of the few (the lucky lucky few) who actually got to purchase a PS3 for retail price late last night or early this morning, it looks like you are stuck with having to fork over roughly $3500+ for PS3 before Christmas.

But, wait, what is that on the Horizon? It looks like a gamer, playing upon a pale system. And the name of that gamer… it’s none other than Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto. The system he’s on is Nintendo’s Wii, available in stores starting Sunday for $250.

Well, in comparison to the cost of picking up a PS3 in the dog-eat-dog world of eBay, $250 doesn’t sound too bad for a top-notch game system. But that almost wasn’t the case. In fact, during the original planning stages, the projected cost of the Wii wasn’t anywhere near $250.

It was much, much lower.

According to Miyamoto, Nintendo was originally intending to release their next-gen system for less than $100. However, as they continued to add features to the system, the cost of manufacturing just caught up with them.

"We had to compromise on graphics," Miyamoto said. He went on to say, "Many of our employees initially wanted high-definition graphics. But they agreed with us that graphics wouldn’t matter if the games weren’t fun to play."

Trust me, I’m not one to scoff at graphics, but now having played the Wii, Miyamoto is 100% right on this one. I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun playing a video game. The only thing I can compare my first Wii experience to is my first experience with an Atari system. That’s right, the Wii made me feel like I was experiencing gaming for the first time all over again.

So, while they may have missed the $99 retail mark, they hit the bullseye with their product. Huzzah, Miyamoto. Huzzah.

GamesIndustry: Nintendo wanted Wii to cost under $100, says Miyamoto
