Do you think that they should change the policy forbidding Catholic priests from marrying?

Why or why not?

Well,if Catholics live by the rule that they can't have sex till they're married,how would they without breaking their religion?

I say yes,they should be able to.

I think that they should allow priests to marry, because i seriously think that a person's inability to have sex has a psychological effect on them.

It is one thing if you were injured, and you no longer have the desire to have sex, but it is another thing, for someone who was once sexually active, decides not to be active anymore, due to the oath they took when they entered the priesthood..

It is kinda like you are going on a diet, and you decide to go cold turkey when it comes to chocolate, after a while you will crash, and you will crash hard, therefore setting back any progress you have made thus far..

As you know, any dietician will tell you that going cold turkey, and denying yourself something that you like or have gotten used to, is not the way to go, and that the best way to go is to gradually decrease your intake.. or have it only so often..

Which is, coincidentally, how those patches, gums, food, alcohol, and drug addiction programs work..

So if that principle applies to food, alcohol, tobacco, and drug addictions, then why would anyone think that it wouldn't apply to sex as well?

All those urges build up inside them and they aren't allowed to release it.. whether they are with someone else, or alone.

I believe that if a priest were allowed to get married, masturbate (although, i'd really like to know how anyone would find out whether or not they masturbated.. O.o) or at least, have a partner, then the molestations in the church would rapidly decline..

The only way I can fathom a person being able to keep such a promise, without breaking that oath, is if they had a vasectomy, and removed the source of the hormone, and went on hormone therapy to stabilize themselves..

Though, priests come from various backgrounds, and so not every priest would be able to afford long-term hormone therapy, so it would just be easier to allow them to marry or masturbate.

I think they should.
But it's a sacrifice to be a priest and it's their choice not ours.
