Title: somethings up with MFZ forums

blazermax - January 8, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
I was going to go on to MFZ forums today and this screen comes up saying that Ive been bann for STEALING artwork. Ive never stole anything in my life and I have no idea what they are talking about. can someone plz help me.

Dark Mage - January 8, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
They're real hardasses there, you forgot to give credit to the person who ripped the Klonoa sheet or something,I dunno.

MaranX - January 8, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
I have another problem with MFZ forum. I registered there about 6 monts ago and I still can't log in.

blazermax - January 8, 2007 11:44 AM (GMT)
I gave credit for everything i posted there.

Gameshrk90 - January 8, 2007 12:55 PM (GMT)
Maybe someone had similar sprites and overreacted? I recolored your sprites in paint. And it was a real pain to do it, so if some says that you stole those, they're saying I stole them. And in that case I'm ticked.

Snowflame - January 8, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
I think MFZ gone to much now. :...:

Mystic Mage - January 8, 2007 04:52 PM (GMT)
No offence to BA, VZ or BDX

But this has been a time where alot of virus', bots, porn and spamming has come more common

Alot of admins have to be extra careful, meaning in some cases banning the innocent.
It could happen cause they're tired of they thing they've seen soming hinting at another thing

Online games are constantly kicking and banning
Same's happening everywhere connected with the internet

That's maybe why you've got banned

Snowflame - January 8, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
Do you think thats possible Mystic?

Mystic Mage - January 8, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
Maybe... It's a possibility and more i hear of people being banned and spam bots and new viruses and statistics more I'm belieiving it. I'll look into it... go nothing else to do

You can see people cheating on secure games... there's sites that sell hacks. You can get a CD key off the internet for free. The internet is coming more secure in some places
And more dangerous in others... I'm going on a hunt to find thinks to prove it I'll post my findings in a topic.

VirusZero - January 8, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
As far as being banned for stealing images, since you claim that you didn't steal anything any you credited everyone, maybe what would work is if someone took alook around there and see if anyone accused you wrongfully or pointed a finger then if thats the case you can plead your case to an admin (hopefully they'll be reasonable and will understand as wrongful accusations do happen, but if it was deliberately done then the accuser may have had a reason for wanting you off there?) though if you can't see anyone who would have pointed the finger you could always email a mod/admin and ask which image you supposedly "stole" and from where. and if there is any chance you could do anything to correct the situation. ( ie if you forgot to credit some one would they allow you back if you credit them )

but as far as net safety and security, oh yeah theres so many viruses out there and new ones are cropping up all the time, plus variants of existing ones which are just different enough to evade anti-virus detection software. Spam bots are numerous and used often by decietful companies or as nusiances by someone who simply has nothing better to do.

and wrongful bannings on forums and games may happen no matter how thorough the staff is, sometimes people make mistakes. Though when a mistake is made it is that person's obligation to rectify it.

Black Angel - January 8, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
The damn quote button isn't showing up for me at all.. that's ok, that'll be resolved with the next skin change..

Anyhow, no offense taken Mystic, with respect to the Spambots issue, all that can be explained here.

http://support.invisionfree.com/index.php?showtopic=402711

As it is, we have a list of more than 100 spambot ips and wildcards, as well as email addresses, and domains blocked from this forum.

So any bots that get through the cracks, are simply new versions.

Sadly, short of continuing to ban, the ips, and emails as they become known to us, there isn't much else we can do until the ZB upgrade comes along.

Mystic Mage - January 8, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
Hopefull it comes out sooner or later

Black Angel - January 8, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
Please.. they hae been talking the same junk about ZB's release.. to be quite honest I don't even care anymore..

I am just tired of them talking about it is all..

Turok - January 8, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
i was banned for a week for saying "shit" on the old ones... so gay man...

blazermax - January 8, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
some people are a little too sensetive and touchy feely for their own good. That kind of stuff belongs in the 2nd demension with all the other anime things.

Black Angel - January 8, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
One thing will always remain the same.. and that is even if the basis for the accusations in this matter are total bullshit, that doesn't not change the fact that the owners and staff of that site reserve the right to ban and punish you, or anyone else, with or without good reason. By submitting your registration to that forum, you are therefore acknowledging that fact.

That is the way that it goes for any forum really. Including this one, though, that is not a right that we will EVER exercise. We have, and always will have a valid, and substantial reson behind our bannings here. However, just because we refuse to exercise that right, doesn't mean that other forums will do the same.

So the next time you find yourself on the business end of an unfair punishment, take my words into consideration.. it will save you a lot of headaches later on.

...Rule 9

I won't ban you but please be mindful of that. (I think that rule needs some revision, banning immediately for one out of context use is a bit extreme... maybe a warning first but not an outright ban.)

QUOTE ( Blazerman)

hmm, some people are a bit sensitive but we don't know their whole story so there may be a reason for it. and even if there isn't it is their choice as long as it doesn't effect everybody else to an intolerable point. and once it does become an intolerable point then it will have to be adjusted. (and believe me there is always someone out there who can and will make some adjustments.)

but as far as the rules go, they can ban for no reason but you can always request proof especially if your innocent and when they have no proof, then you can go to other forums and spread the word that X forum bans for no reason and most people will avoid that forum. And that hurts alot of forums really badly, especially when they can't get new members because the admins are ban happy and keep eliminating people.

Snowflame - January 8, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
But we all know that different forums have different rules right?

VirusZero - January 8, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah but different rules is no excuse for an admin to do what ever they want, the US court system doesn't grab innocent people off their streets and prosecute them because they could. so why is this any different, besides the level you enforce your rules is also a major thing, you can be a grammar nazi ( that is when you brutally expect every post to have university level correction. ) but when it gets to a certain point people will get sick of it and move on and that is a major death to alot of forums. (because they can't keep members because of their brutally enforced rules, and often times they are hypocritical about it as well, it's ok if they "slip up" but if anyone else does they get nailed up to the wall)

Dark Mage - January 8, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
They ARE real hardasses with rules,I got warned for telling people to keep their life problems off the forum so they don't have a go at the members there,Blazer,I think you might have,to them, spammed.

blazermax - January 8, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
there is also favoritisum where the owner or admin is alot more forgiving or at ease, like when a member has been on a forum for a long time or they know each other from somewhere else then they get away with alot of things, but when its a new member that they dont know.Everyone may gang up on him just becuase of that and are alot harsher on that person.

Mystic Mage - January 9, 2007 07:07 AM (GMT)
Well I'd say nothing's wrong but ahwell. If it's that much to you send an email to them about it and try to get your account back

blazermax - January 9, 2007 11:07 AM (GMT)
The sad part is that I got banned on the same day I made my account -__-

Dark Mage - January 9, 2007 11:10 AM (GMT)
Your not the first Blazer, there's plenty of members that have being.

Mystic Mage - January 9, 2007 04:24 PM (GMT)
On the first day?
That's stupid
I mean we even gave coolman a chance
and we found out that he didn't deserve them but we gave him a chance... There has to be something very bad to get banned straight away

Dark Mage - January 9, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
To them,sprite theft gets you a 75% warning,it used to be 99%.

But there's not really any proof that Blazer did wrong.

I only made 3 topics and i "grave digged" one time before I read the rules.

Yeah see, that is one thing I don't do.. I believe that if a member has been with us for a long time, then that is all the more reason for them to know better when they act up, and so, they will get the same punishment as someone who was new here, and did the same thing they did..

That was one of the things that BDX and I did not see eye-to eye on a long time ago.

Mystic Mage - January 10, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
Some people will never learn... don't forget that

the first day! wtheck! totally stupid!

EDIT: oh sry about that comment VirusZero, i didnt mean it in that way... i shouldve said "so stupid". my apologies.

Black Angel - January 10, 2007 09:38 PM (GMT)
Right or wrong, they are exercising their right to punish or ban someone at their discretion. They owe you no explanation.. the only thing you can do is chalk it up to that, and move on.

VZ had a similar problem to this on another forum.

http://ffsx.sytes.net/index.php?showtopic=1824

Mind you, I am not saying that I agree with it, that is just how it is sometimes.

Dark Mage - January 10, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
If BA will allow me,here are the MFZ's rulebook.

http://www.forums.themysticalforestzone.co...ent.php?f=2&a=5

Black Angel - January 10, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
Damn, I couldn't have worded that any better myself.. it is a book..

If I were to judge by that on-going soliloquy, I'd say that they don't place much faith in their members.

Yes, it is fine to have rules, all forums need them, however, that is a bit excessive.

No one would bother to read all that..

Dark Mage - January 10, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
And they don't do what you guys do here, they don't verbal warn, they just warn straight away.

VirusZero - January 10, 2007 11:22 PM (GMT)
Javascript rule... they made mention of it several times, but they failed to ever explain what in the world they were talking about and what would cause you to break this rule. Very rule oriented, and yet another forum where alot of the admins/mods are grammar nazis.

it is nice they explained some stuff but with such small text and so much of it, it all really seemed to blend together and thusly become unreadable except to those who made it or those who are used to working with that much, but for the average user it is just too much to deal with.
