Title: What do you think causes your fears?
Dark Mage - January 13, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
I believe that it may be from a past memory, one you may remember or not, what are your opinions?
Sephiroth - January 13, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
Well, i can't realy say anything about that questions...only that fears exist only in your mind, if learn of a way to control them and to surpass them, i guess that fears won't affect you that much...

i hav many fears, some can be cured easily, others not so much.....
u already kno my fears of bugs. i think this was from my child hood when i was at least 4 years old. me and my brothers went to our family reunion and were playing in the feild(yes, their back yard was a REAL FEILD) , while we running i had stopped but im not sure why, and i felt somthing crawling up my legs, i looked down, and saw that i had stepped on a fireant hill. Then my legs started burning and the ants started biting. i was screaming and crying all at once, so everyone came over to see what was wrong. i spent the rest of that day sitting on their living room couch resting my legs. i was so scared i was shivering and everything. i can jus picture it now and it brings fear all over again. but i was never really scared of small ants or anyother small bugs. those ones actually fasinated me. It was the big ones that made me cringe

that has happened to me and bdx a lot when we were younger.. we would jump from stump to stump in our grand father's yard in VA.. that is, until bdx and i came across a stump that crumbled easily, and we got stung..

You dont need to cry to feel emotional

Mine come from either being squeamish (possibly to the point where I should probably seek professional help), or past experiences.
And perhaps my own crazy..
So in my case, the saying, "you are your own worst enemy" holds true for me. :-_-:

Fears, I believe, are simply created by knowledge. The knowledge of language allows more fears to come true. If we weren't told of certain things we wouldn't fear them. If you never knew of death you couldn't fear it. If you always believed there was nothing in the dark, you couldn't fear it. But the truth is, most of these things have another piece to them that we fear. Most of it is probably in our human instinct. However, fear is one of those things that you must learn to get above. When you do you'll enjoy what you used to fear most.

genetics... some fears are hardwired into our cores because of our ancestors, such as the survival instincts, we're more likely to be frightened by a snake/spider than we are to be frightened of a gun, sure we know what a gun is but it is a new invention and so it hasn't been hardwired into us so that it becomes one of our fears.
other fears surface because of a single exposure to a traumatic experience, such as an enclosed space, may take a normal dislike of tight spaces and turn it into a phobia. Fears can also be generated from the unknown, like a fear of death, we don't know what that is like or much about what happens as we die because no one who has experienced it can tell us. So we're bound to worry about that, despite the fact that it is inevitable that we will die, infact each of us is dying this second, every breath we draw brings us one more to our final, From the moment we are born we begin to die. Now I know this is somewhat of a morbid though but it's true, and all the more reason we should accept death and not worry about it, instead we should live our lives and not worry about death.
