Title: Imageshack..

Black Angel - March 4, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
I had a bit of a scare today.. I was using firefox, because I was doing like 5 or 6 different things on the computer, and Opera, would have used up too much memory..

Anyway, I was working on my site in dreamweaver, and went to imageshack.us to start uploading images.. because I was in firefox, and not opera, my session cookies were non-existant.. I tried to login to my imageshack account, and when I couldn't, I had to check my email for the registration email.. and ended up clicking the wrong email..

I logged in with my email address, and to my horror, all of my images were gone.. (remember when I kept saying that I had like 60+ pages of images with imageshack?) so I freaked out.. but I figured that it wasn't a big deal, since I have those images on my computer.. so, I just went back to work on my site..

Later on, it dawned on me that my main imageshack account, was linked to my gmail account, and not my yahoo account, which is the one that I tried to login with.. and so, I looked and found my registration email for the gmail account.. I logged in and everything was fine..

Any mail that gets sent to my gmail account, is automatically forwarded to my yahoo account, because yahoo's spam filters are better than gmail's, and when I looked and saw my yahoo address in the "to" field, I didn't look in the "forwarded from" field, and that was how I ended up logging into the wrong account.

That said, I am very happy to report that all 1,014 of my images are safe. :)

-----------------------------------------------

As it turns out, it seems that imageshack has had a bit of a makeover, and changed it's service slightly..

So far, I have noticed that they allow you to have a gallery of images, as opposed to their "photo blog" that they had before..

You can now login with your email, and password.. before that, you were logged in by your cookies..

They now have thumbnails of all of your images on each page.. (40 thumbnails per page)

They also have a text field, where you can specify which page to jump to, if you are looking for something specific..

Mind you, there is a lot more things that they have added, but these are the only things that I noticed immediately after logging in.

I am happy that they have made all of these changes, I only hope that they continue to be around, and that I will never lose my images..

What are your thoughts? Have any of you used imageshack's new services?

Pretty nice. I like the update. It's a lot easier to see pictures, and gifs even move. You can instantly go to another page when you type in the number. It's also easier to get the info on the picture. Pretty easy to use, and I might use it more then my photobucket account.

i only use imageshack to upload images online so others can see them, all my pictures are safe away in my documents.
