Sonic and Mario are teaming up for a game that is going to be released sometime this year to promote the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The game(title mentioned in the title of this topic) is going to be released on the Wii and DS and will feature Sonic, Mario, Tails, Yoshi, Knuckles, Peach, and others.

I didn't believe it at first but, it looks like its gonna happen. I can't wait for some videos of gameplay =D

I'm not very excited about it because the only way they could think to combine them was with the Olympics >.> And Olympic games have always been cheesy.

I mean in recent days though. I had an Olympic game once and it sucked majorly <.<

I can't believe people waste may on those kind of games...sure i like to wacth the event, but playing it...

The only thing bad about that is becuase all the sonic characters will own the mario characters, EX: sonic is a super fast hedgehog who can jump really high use chaos control, go super,spin into and indestructible spiny orb which also move faster then light. while mario is an italian plumber with red overalls and a speach impediment.

I believe it'll go something like this: The stars/shine sprites of Mario land or the Chaos rings/emeralds of Mobius (Sonic's planet...duh...) will react and teleport the two teams to some inter-dementional olympic stadium where NIGHTS or some other spacey Nintendo/SEGA character is the host of the games. They all decide, "What the heck!? Why not?" and they play for medals in the normal olympic events. (probably of all season.)

Sonic wouldn't beat Mario at every event. He'd probably beat Sonic in most of the Winter events, curling (the hockey and archery mix thing.), and swimming since Sonic can't swim.

Sonic can probably swin...he's just lazy.

Knuckles can't even swim. He climbed up the walls, only Tails could swim.

AHhhhh... This game will probably be scraped and turned into some sortta Marvel vs. CAPCOM ripoff ROM that only people with an emulator know of.

How could you not like sonic adventure 2, Sae? The adventure saga was the best saga of sonic games, anything created after that completly sucks,that's true, but not the adventure saga, specialy the adventure 2!

i agree adventure was good, but i wouldn't say best.

This game (if you ask me) is gonna be really wack, why couldn't they put them together in an adventure game. Sonic should be able to beat Mario in any even't that deals with running so thats stupid, and he could most likely run across water.
Ya thing Bowser and Robotnik are gonna team up?
The only reason i would consider getting this game is because it has mario and sonic together on it.

How? Very easily. It's over rated with its story and such. Personally, i like the first Adventure game. It had a much better story and developed the characters better. Hell, you got some information on Knuckles's past in the first Adventure. Sonic Adventure 2 basically just introduced an over powered character, Shadow. Shadow has to be by far the worst Sonic character ever. He is the most cliche and god modded. Also, fanbase has widely abused him so he becomes a boring character. I agree, Adventure 2 was good, but look at what every game after that has had. They've all had Shadow. He might not be the reason why gameplay is sucking up, but he's sure as hell one reason why stories are sucking. Just look at Sonic Adventure compared to SA2, there's so many great and classic things it had.

Anyways, that's just my little rant response. Personally, I don't have faith for this game.

In my opinion, sega is selling out to entertain small kids who will make their parents buy them sonic games just cuase it has very random explosions very fast paced action movement and the whole super sonic shtic but with that they sacrificed character development important storylines to the sonic world and all meaning of the reason why sonic and his freinds do the things they do.

They need to get Ian Flynn working on the storylines for the games. That way the games and comics will have awesome writing.

Honestly, I would have liked to see Mario and Sonic in a different kind of game. But Olympic-based? I don't know if it will have success.

Generally, Sonic can be superior in speed, however, Mario can have high levels of strength and stamina, so both of them have their pros and cons.

Guess we'll have to wait until the game is released for the final veredict.
