What do you think it takes to be a good admin?

a little less restrictions and strong enforcement of the rules

I wasn't asking if you think we are good admins, I was asking what you think it takes to be a good admin?

Or rather, what makes a good admin.. :)

Someone who listens to the problems everyone has equally and someone who can compromise an issue. A good admin gives chances and doesn't ban anyone right away for simple rules that were broken. They can create a border of when someone needs to be banned and when someone should just get a warn. Admins are also active on the forum and know how to have fun with the other members. That's what I think makes a good admin anyways.

As far as being a good admin, (I think) it requires:

- being somewhat flexible on the rules, and allow people chances but on the otherside enforcing them if they clearly overstep the rules.

- be able to investigate problems and help resolve them

- being creative and able to make topics, solve problems on the fly, being able to explain things in muliple ways.

- being fair to all, no favouritism

- you have to be likeable, andeasy to get along with and talk to, plus being able to mak and take a joke is a benefit.

I agree with all of you..

I have seen admins lose their cool with members who give them constructive criticism.. when they are the ones who asked for it..

My thing is, if you are going to act that way, then what is the point of asking?

I have also seen admins copy ideas from other peoples forums, in hopes of getting an active board..

I say if you can't be original, then don't make a board.. Simple as that.

I believe that a good admin is the following

-Tough but fair
-Won't take sides
-Listens to both sides of the story
-Believes in second chances

There are some people who do deserve second chances,but there are tons who don't.
