I got my learners when I was 16, but because no one would teach me to drive/had the time to teach me, it expired, so I went and got my learners again, big surprise they didn't have time to teach me again. So I decided to press my luck and went for the test. (I should make it clear the examiner in the area I live is an ex-RCMP aka Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, so he knows all the rules... And as such he bends them at will to give a perfect 75% fail rate. I found this out because I saw his log books where he recorded the mark and from hearing many people tell of it. ) So needless to say, I failed. Anyway my learners expired, I went and regot it, then searched out the best driving school I could, and enrolled, completed it went back and tried the test again... I finally got it

I have never taken either test.. I am a little scared, but that is not why I haven't taken it, or gotten my license. The reason is because I live in N.Y.C. where there is absolutely no point in having a license, as you can get where you need to go by train, or bus.. and depending on your destination and the time you left, you'd get there a lot faster..
I may get it before I get married though..

Nope I waited. In fact I can get my full flegded Drivers licence right now if I wanted to..But heck I'm not in that huge of a hurry. Driveing is fun to other people, but to me it isent any more or less then walking....Just walking REALLY fast. I don't see how driveing to work or to a friends house is that much terribly different from haveing to Walk or Cycle your way there, cept one gives you more muscle mass.

Around where I live, you NEED a license to get around... my hometown has maybe 1500 people tops... And the closest jobs are usually a 20-30 minute drive away. (Which is probably the biggest town of the county and still might only have a few thousand... )
As far as driving goes, I like it, hitting 100 is pretty fun, and the rev of the engine is pretty relaxing, the rush of the wind, it's pretty hard to get that from biking...

Mm hmm.. you can't do that too much around here Speed Racer.. unless you are on the Belt, Van Wyck, Sunrise Hwy, or the Grand Central, in the middle of the night, and even then, you can't because there are always cars, and people like to leave the state in the middle of the night.. because there is less traffic.. so even then it is a risk..

I'm not sure exactly if the passed the law here in Ohio that restricts people from getting their permits at 15 or not... I remember it was being discussed though, so I don't think I will be getting mine at 15. Maybe 16 if I'm lucky, but my sister didn't get her license til she was 18 and my brother got his permit a few months after turning 18.

o i forget to tell u guys i got my perment
sry about the double post
VirusZero - August 10, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
When I said 100, I forgot one thing... We use the metric system here, 100kph does not equal 100 mph... (100 kilometers per hour is 60 miles per hour...)
(But still anything at or over 100kph is pretty fun.)
But around here in the major city, there is one area which is posted to be 50kph but almost everyone flies through at 80+ kph. Heck if you do 50 the police will stop you and give you a ticket for obstructing traffic...

As it turns out, I'll probably be getting my license ASAP, because we'll be moving from this home in a couple of years to another one which isn't as close to the school, and while the school does provide bus transportation, I do things after school that would require some way to get around.
