Sorry. But they do seem to intertwine in a way if you think about it. =/
But yeah. I've been through a lot of crap in my life, what makes him any different that he can go around killing people?

Please do NOT blame Shadow the Hedgehog, I am sick of people getting on Sega's case about.
Now personally I think gun violence is wrong but I think it's even wronger to have teens with guns, why? They tend to be idiots and shoot someone or themselves.

I'm not. As much as I really don't like that game its not in any case, a reason someone can go out and kill people. If they were really influenced by it its their own fault for being so weak minded. I was just stating a the similarities.

Well for one thing, I agree with you guys on the whole "Just-cause-your-life-sucks-doesn't-man-you-can-go-killing-people" noation. But what you have to realize is, people don't think the same way you do. Especially when in diffrent situations.
"Well my life sucks but I'm not some mass murdering teen." Ever wondered WHY that is? Just because you've experienced pain, doesn't mean it's from the same things. And it always doesn't mean you've coeped with it the same way.
I'm not siding with the shooter or anything, but you honestly can't say that he was very sane. Are you sane? Think of why your not going around shooting people. Do you have commen sense? Do you have things to live for? Maybe in his heart, he thought he didn't. And wether or not it was true, sometimes your heart can consume any logical thought and completely terminate it.
Sometimes people do things that they think will help them break away. And yes, it's wrong, and stupid. But please don't try to relate to someone you really don't personally know, that stuff pisses me off.
For one thing, you guys have people around you who care. People to talk to about your problems, people who'll listen. Maybe he didn't have that. So don't try to "compare" yourself with him, that's a very primitive way of thinking.

I didn't have some one to care. I even tried to commit suicide, but I never thought to kill those who upset me. Its true that people handle things differently. I'm not one to stand up for myself so its natural I'd never try to harm someone no matter what they did to me. I'd most likely blame myself for it. It wasn't until recently that I found any self value in myself. No one ever told me they cared, no one ever told me I was important.
My dad ran away everyday. Used work as an excuse to say he was "parenting". He felt that it was enough to keep us happy, he didn't need to show affection. Even today while I'm older I still don't see him often, maybe an hour a day and I never see him on weekends. He prefers to go out hunting and "escape" from his family. My mother really didn't like the way I withdrew myself to games, I never told her why, she'd think it was silly that I'd keep to myself because everyone liked to tease me because I was partially blind. I know she didn't understand how my condition affected me, but neither did she understand how their words affected me either. She didn't understand much of my life, she was one of those narrow minded people.
Yet, you never heard of a shoot out in my elementary school. And I don't blame others for my problems, no matter how bad they got. The closest that came to a death was my own and thats it. So you can't take "not having anyone to care for you" into consideration when talking about people like this guy. Its purely a state of mind as I'm living proof that loved ones, while they would avert the whole situation, don't determine how it plays out if it still does.
saphirekitty - January 5, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
That still doesn't justify you trying to relate to someone you don't know. But, regardless, what he did was stupid. And wether it was a human, a video game, or whatever else, I wish he had something to numb his brain from all the sh*t that was going on around him. That's one of the reasons I don't judge people who do drugs. I rather he did drugs than killing himself and 9 other innocent people...
I'll keep my drug, thank you very much. Cause Art is my heroin. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
Blaze the Hedgehog - January 5, 2008 11:37 PM (GMT)
Hm? Do you mean like art is your form of a drug?
If thats what you mean then my GF is my drug. XD
Theres nothing else in this world I put more effort into than her. Not even my own art.
Compared to her everything else is just so far away in comparison.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to go out and mimic somethiog you saw in a game, and even stupider to blame the video games.. but unfortunately, the statement, although bullshit, is not without merit considering you have parent's rushing to blame the media, game makers and others for THEIR own fuck-ups as parents, and you have young girls out here dressing like sluts, and young boys walking around, brandishing a firearm, and talking about how 'gangsta' or 'hard' they are..
If you think you are so tough then by all means, enlist in the military, go to Iraq, and show us how tough you really are.. otherwise, shut the fuck up.
We live in a "blame-others-for-our-own-fuck-ups-and-problems-and-not-use-the-common-sense-good-judgment-and-personal-responsibility-god-gave-us" kind of society.. it is why there are so many lawsuits with cases where these things should have prevaled, and it is why you have so many of these pussies out here taking guns, and then killing innocent people and themselves, just because they can't handle how fucked up reality truly is.
If your life is so fucked up that you can't handle it anymore, and you really want to die, then please feel free to off yourself, but i don't see why you have to include innocent people who probably have better lives of their own than yours ever could be in a lifetime.. just do it.
I am sorry but I remain unsympathetic to these cowards simply because life is all about chance.. if you don't like something change it.. yes it can be hard to overcome adversity, but it is possible, and it will make you a better person because of it.. each day brings a new chance to change something that you dont like.. and so there is no excuse to go out and killing people just because you had a bad day, week, month, or year.. because regardless of how messed up things may be for you right now, there is and always will be someone who has had it WORSE, and for a lot longer than you have.

Ok, my post may be a bit overloaded with swearing so view at your own risk.
this is what I believe society is telling teenagers to do
Society tells girls to whore yourself out and people will like you but in truth, your insecure and nothing more then a slut who's easy to get into.
And it tells guys to fuck everything that walks, drink every night, do drugs and slap your girl silly and listen to rap music about sex, drugs and fucking any woman you see.
And like we've all agreed, society sucks.
It's true, it's what society tells you to do and if you don't your a pussy, if that's true, then alot of people I know as well as myself are pussies!
VirusZero - January 6, 2008 05:08 PM (GMT)
SaphireKitty, we try to compare and put ourselves in everyone else's shoes (aka position), it's the only way we can even begin to try to sympathize with someone... I'd wager that you do this without even much realization that your doing it...
One psychological theorist (the name escapes me) put forth that we have all felt pain, and because of this we all have a similar base to sympathize with another who is in pain... ex- someone breaks their arm, even if you've never broken any bones you can still imagine what it would be like based on your own knowledge of pain.
As far as swearing goes... DM did you read BA's? You swore maybe 5 times tops... BA swore roughly 7 times... (depending upon what you count a swear word as.)
So yours isn't that bad...
However I disagree with if you don't follow society's trends then you get labelled a pussy. That's quite the opposite of how I feel, if you don't follow society you've got guts, enough to ignore the world pushing down on you saying "Do this my way/Blend into us/Join us"
But if you decide not to join society under their conditions you still have to realise you are a part of society and even if you don't accept to do things their way you cannot break their laws. You may not wish to be subject to the laws, but being a resident of the county automatically subjects you to them and society just reinforces this.

I agree with you, as a general rule I do not follow what society dictates.. only in instances of the law, etc.. will you find me on the same side.. but when it comes to domestic and/or political issues, then I stand my own ground.
However, DM, my use of the 'P' word, was regarding those like the mall shooter, or the VA tech shooter, those responsible for the 9/11 attacks, wannabe gangstas or the Columbine boys.. those who decide to take out other people along with themselves for no other reason than the fact that they are miserable.. and not those who don't follow society.
Dark Mage - January 7, 2008 07:26 AM (GMT)
I know your not a pussy if you don't follow society, but it's what society says you are, I'm no pussy and neither is ANYONE who doesn't, it's just what we're called.

I prefer the term heretic, but yeah I suppose you do have a valid point.
