Title: Devil May Cry 4
VirusZero - February 12, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
So has anyone played DMC4 yet? If you have then NO SPOILERS please as I've yet to play it and I severely want to play it and get the story of it myself.
If so what do you think of it? Is it as good as DMC3 or is it like DMC2...

I've yet to play it, but I need to play the others still too. I heard it's an awesome series. DMC4 looks pretty hardcore too, but I don't know. It got an 8 on Gamespot so it must be pretty good.

I heard it was easier than DMC3 but I don't know whether that is a good thing or a bad thing... Because what difficulty level are they playing on? Easy or Hard? Cause one thing I liked about DMC3 was that it was difficult...
Though I do like the sounds of in DMC4 (as Dante) being able to switch styles on the fly.

Yeah, that'd be bad if it was too easy. It'd be sort of like KHII, good game but an easy one too.
I want to play the games so bad but I hate going back to older games after playing so many new ones because things seem so choppy sometimes.

I've only played the demo. Since it's my first DMC game that I've actually played, it's really good.

I've beat the others...
DMC 1 on normal and hard.
DMC 2 on Normal (Couldn't be bothered to play it again)
DMC 3 on Normal first, then easy, then hard, and was working on Dante Must Die mode.
But I hope it's not DMC2 easy... Cause even on normal mode there was no challenge (I think I only died once in the whole game... Compared to the some numberous times against DMC3's final boss on hard mode.... )
The stylish gameplay looks good so no worries there, but what about the humor? Does Dante keep his wit and corny jokes, or the more subtle ones like from DMC1...

He still seems to have his witty jokes and remarks, although they don't seem to be corny.. The demo was pretty easy, although the boss was a pain the first few times I fought him.

Well, my brother bought a PS3 today and he also bought DMC4 as well... He's played through the first level and is now on the second level, so before long I'll get a chance to play and then I'll be able to give an accurate review/account of it.

That awesome! My PS3 stopped working, and so now I have to go buy a new one...Good thing I was able to return it.

Well I've played... And played a fair bit... (I'm on mission 19 of 20. So I've almost beaten it.)
As for what I think:
*DON'T READ FURTHER unless you want to read some MINOR spoilers. You have been warned.*
Nero- He takes some getting used to. His style is vastly different from Dante and he focuses heavily on using the devil bringer (aka the right arm which allows him to bring enemies to him, or if they're too heavy, allowing him to jump to them.)
Personally I find the devil bringer slightly gimmicky and most of the time I spent play as Nero I defaulted to the basic triangle times 4 combo then either a rush move to get close again or use the r1 + circle to use the devil bringer to launch me at the enemy or them to me to continue the assault again, completely ignoring the other abilities of the devil bringer. (Such as being able to grab enemies and throw them in various ways.) Occasionally I would vary my moves up abit but the style gauge seemingly rose whether I did the same move alot in a row or not. So there wasn't much of an incentive to vary things up any amount.
Dante- I am somewhat disappointed by the small amount of time you actually get to play as Dante in this game. You get to use him from mission 12-18... And basically that's it as far as I know. So until I beat the game and see if I can select him in the other missions I would say it's a bit of a let down.
But the time you do get to use Dante is quite sweet. Dante is all about combos, and he makes it very easy... switching styles on the fly is an incredible thing. Which makes for some incredible combat... though I mainly stuck to swordsmaster and gunslinger.
In this game Dante doesn't get his usually huge arsenal of weapons, instead he gets 3 guns and 3 devil arms.
Guns - ebony/ivory, shotgun, pandora- which transforms into other weapons on which buttons you press and when/how you use it.
Swords - Rebellion, Gilgamesh (aka typical gauntlet type weapon reminicent of both ifrit and beowulf) and Lucifer (the odd weapon of the bunch... rather weak but can chain endless combos and if used right I imaging it could do some heavy damage.)
But even if he doesn't get a massive arsenal, he is many times more varied than Nero ever is, which makes playing him so cool, but then you do feel a bit saddened when your forced back to playing as Nero for the last levels.

I'm waiting for this game to come out on the pc...i'm defnatly going to buy it....I'm not really sure, gamespot said that this game, despite the fancy graphics and all, is a literal copy of DMC 3...still i'm dying to buy it and try it for myself ;D
As far as the other games go, for those newbies in the series, make sure to at least play DMC 3, wich is pretty much a prequel to the series, not a sequel, like the disastrous DMC2 was...that game was so bad, that i don't even want to talk about it...just don't ever play it, since it's NOT important to the series storyline (even worse than sonic the hedgehog next gen)...And no Sae, a game like Devil May Cry 3...will never get old...once you play it, you'll know what i mean...I have the game for almost 4 years now, and i'm still excited about it as i was back then ;)
