Either way you look at it though you still have the six apples left over that noone wants/can't be fiven away. A remainder. Deviding by zero is the same as saying that you are leaving the number and not using it. So in a way you are right and in a way you are wrong. You are right in that it isn't being split up, but wrong in that it is still being put aside from the actual problem. in a longer string of math.... There are 9 apples 6 are good and 3 are bad. 3 people want the good apples but noone wants the bad apples. How many of the total number of apples does each person get? 6 / 3 + 3 / 0 = 2 r 3 The three people each get 2 apples with 3 apples left over. Normally you'd just throw that r 3 out because it's unnessesary, but dividing the 3 by zero puts it away. See what I'm saying? |
