Hard Rock, Metal, and Game music. As for why? Well, I like hardrock and metal because typically they're faster, higher energy sounding and usually feature an electric guitar. So typically they make great songs for fight or action scenes in games or movies or even just if your reading a book and they're talking about action in it.
Plus they don't have the same monotonous feeling of techno or trance. And they aren't like rap in that they're just talking fast into a microphone to a typically more high paced beat. (Or conversely it's polar opposite) Country (where typically its talking slow into a microphone set to a slower paced beat.)

As for game music... well I like playing games and many of the songs featured in it are pretty good. I like the sounds of them. From the classic Sonic 2(Sky chase or the first level) or Sonic 3 (Ice Cap or Boss theme) to the more modern epics like Metal Gear Solid with the orchestral talent of Harry Gregson-Williams. Or the high octane charge from DMC's Lock and Load or DMC3's Individualized Boss music or any of the fight themes to even the ending credit music (all are geared for just one thing...) And that's just a few of my favourites... And ofcourse there being a whole community dedicated to the remixing of game music... (if you haven't visited them before I strongly suggest you check out OCRemix and listen to some of the exquisite works they produce. Almost makes you wonder what the game would have been like with those songs as the originals...)

I like all sorts of music, being a musician myself. I like hard rock, metal, screamo, and basically anything sub-genre of rock. I also enjoy classical compositions, vg music, and electronic music overall.

Rock I generally like because of the main instruments in it, a rhythms guitar, a lead, a bass, and drums. It's usually upbeat and can change from being dark, happy, psychedelic, or being a ballad.

Screamo - It's actually a sub-genre of rock and there's different types. I have to admit, most I really don't like but there are a lot of good musicians that fall under its concept. Check out Attack Attack on myspace for instance.

Classical music is a good listen really. Most of it is nice and soothing Besides, the really old stuff the composers couldn't write from a program like modern day musicians can to see how something will sound first, there has to be an actual understanding of music which I think is lacking today in a lot of modern "musicians." It's also the best musically written in my opinion, save for some epic rock pieces I've heard.

Video game music is sort of a broad genre. There's rock vg music, electronic vg music, classical vg music, and multiple kinds. However, the one reason I like VG music is because it's a style of music that's supposed to be eventful and fit a specific mood. It's written for a specific time. It can also vary depending on how those events change. However, there is VG music that lacks because of the game or because the composers just weren't that good.

Electronic music is one of my favorite genres. I've written some drum n bass pieces, trance, and techno. Once you do you begin to feel an appreciation for the music. Also, there's a certain relaxation that comes from Trance. Drum N Bass is very fast paced which I like. Some people don't like genres in electronic because of their "repetitiveness" most music is repetitive actually. So it isn't really a big problem for me.

I actually have an NG account for music if anyone is interested in looking at my work. ClockHass's NG Music

There's two Sonic remixes on there, one from SA2 and the other from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The rest is all original.

i like rock, and some metal but not too much hard rock, as for why well...
i change a lot. at first it was salsa, then i changed to pop, and even to reggae at some point but i found my calling in rock music 'cause some of them say things that u just want to scream out one day. i also love Nightwish, awesome singer! :)

aside from that have u ever noticed that the megaman x series music is rock turned tecno (not all of them)
