Description: any?

Magnum_Wolfire - December 15, 2008 04:18 AM (GMT)
So. sometime after/before/during christmas, I'm considering getting a 360. Prollem is: I dunno what to get. Although I'm still very much so, I'm nowhere near as simplistic as I was when I was a kid. With that being said, I'm not gonna go buy every game in sight like I sometimes imagine I would. I'm excellent with any variation of rpg's(action, tactics, you name it) and I love adventure games. I have no skill in FPS's, but I have enough to beat games.

I've already decided on Star Ocean 4 and Gears of War two just for starters. Anyone got any helpful info on games? perhaps games that are good, yet didn't get enough spotlight? Because I've only heard of the most popular of XBox games thanks to commercials(and me being an ex-playstation fanboy..lol)

Well, I'll borrow some off of my own list for Christmas.

Gears of War 2
Guitar Hero World Tour
Fallout 3
Fable 2
Call of Duty World at War
Soul Caliber IV
Unreal Tournament 3

I know some of those are PS3 titles as well, but that was just a quick copy/paste situation there.

Guess you could also check

here as well?

Halo 3 <------Just because you have an xbox
Devil May Cry 4 <---------Sick stylish action
Turok <-----Starts off slow, but gets very good
Assassins Creed <---warning this game gets repetitive, but its still cool IMO
*BIOSHOCK!!!!* <----you MUST. End of story
Soul Caliber 4 <----- Do you like fighting games?
Dead or Alive 4 <------Well do ya?
Mirrors Edge <---- Lots of running.
Grand Theft Auto 4 <-----two weeks of this badboy and im only 10 pct done with it.

technogeek - December 15, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
sigh....halo 3 is a must.

everything else get pc.

w/e you know me...

Magnum_Wolfire - December 15, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
Eh. I don't know you. At all. XD

I have no particular interest in Halo 3, so to me it's nothing more than just another fps. Plus I hate the series out of spite anyways. You can blame the little fanboys who I wanna punch in the face for that. In fact, I don't really have that particular interest for fps's in general, so I'll settle for GoW2.

How were the last levels of sonic unleashed? I've lost my overall enthusiasm for it.

that's true..you obviously don't because i have no interest in 360 except for halo 3.

sonic unleashed was fine

That's not the reason he doesn't know you... Its because you haven't talked much.

But anyway, I suggets skipping Mirror's edge for now. Wait until the price drops before getting it, or better yet rent it first. Because from what I hear, the game is short, and has some annoying aspects (Collision detections, combat problems... ) Plus it's also done via first person perspective.

Devil May Cry 4 is a must have though.

The Orange Box. Four games for the price of one if I recall. Especially great for Portal, the best game of 2008 if you ask me.

BlackDevilX - December 16, 2008 04:19 PM (GMT)
You hate a game because of the fanboys? Im not a fanboy, I am also very good at halo, but im not telling you to get it because its halo and you must get it, but cmon, you can play online for free. FREE online (not ranked, social slayer and stuff) and FREE co-op! thats the pinnacle of bad-ass. (note: i might be a loser and there might be other games you can play online for free but i recently discovered this)

Just cause. My girlfriend loves this picture (she witnessed the match).

Anyways, if you let fanboys influence your decision, then you play games for the wrong reason.

Also, Sonic unleashed for the 360, the last levels were a bit, funky. The last boss fight is more irritating then hard. Eggman land will take you at least a half hour to get through.

No game on the 360 is actually free to play online because you have to subscribe to Xbox live to play online in the first place, even for social matches. It's stupid.

Magnum_Wolfire - December 16, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
I don't let anyone influence my gaming ways as easily as that. I recall putting the word "plus" in my last post. More importantly, I'm just not interested in it.

I'm not the least bit interested in the storyline, the enemies, the graphichs, or online gameplay(Halo is one of those games where I never play it enough to improve.)

The only interest I have in any of them is the spartan laser. and it's only in one game as far as I know.

Also, if you wanna see influence, then there ya go: The word irritating has convinced me that Unleash isn't for me.

any platforming games on the 360....?

My list so far:

-Star Ocean 4
-Soul Calibur 4
-Gears of war 2
-Fallout 3
-GTA 4

Thats a negative. It is free to subscribe to xbox live silver. I did it the other day. no credit card, no nothing. Just pick your gamertag, and good to go. BESIDES you get a free month of gold anyways..... 1 month of free online? Ill take that for signing up to a service which has great online capabilities.

Agreed. But I think that if you really enjoy the orange box get steam for pc. Left 4 dead is great fun with mates to play it with but make sure they get it because with friends to play with it can get very boring.

BlackDevilX - December 16, 2008 11:54 PM (GMT)
Isnt steam a bunch of emulators?

VirusZero - December 17, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
Not to my knowledge... Steam is just a control panel for the Half-life series, it manages all of them and allows tou an easy way to launch any of them from one spot. But it's pc only...

As for the PSN link to individual profiles, I'm sure they have a set up for it, but I haven't taken the time to go find it. (Though I wouldn't be surprised if it were <username>.PSNunderground.com or PSN.com or something similar.)

Hmm, PSN's connections are free... The only time you pay for anything is if you highlight the option to buy additional content (from the PSN store no less) and press the confirm button. (Then you get charged the cost of it to your credit card or PSN account, whichever you have it configured to do.)

And from what I have heard, the 360 pressures you from the moment you turn it on to go online... Which gets quite annoying.

Though clarify for me.... The difference between gold and silver accounts.

But otherwise, if your looking for games, what about perusing the gamefaqs site to see what games get ranked high for that genre?

ClockHass - December 17, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
Silver accounts are free. They're basically useless. They let you download free extra content for games and stuff, most content of which you really wouldn't care to have anyway.

Gold is what you need to play online. Every Xbox comes with 3 months of free gold trial, though you have to subscribe different gamer tags. It's really ridiculous, seeing as Microsoft is the one that supports this online and they are one of the richest corporations in the world. It's not realy worth paying for the gold account in my opinion, after awhile you could use that money spent on the gold account to buy a PS3 or something else. The online is good on the 360 though, just not worth a subscription.

VirusZero - December 17, 2008 03:47 AM (GMT)
Hmm, certainly seems to make the PS3 less expensive then...

PS3 (80GB model ) - 399$
CoD4 - 50$
Online costs - 0$
Total = 450$

Xbox360 (Normal version) = 299$
CoD4 = 50$
Online costs (XBL Gold membership for a year) = 50$
Total cost = 400$

So... In reality, the PS3 is only 50$ more expensive than the 360... So if you buy 2 years of online play for an 360, you may as well just buy a PS3...

*All prices are in US dollars.

But aside from that interesting diversion, what about:

-The Last remnant ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/home/939444.html )

-Prince of Persia ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/home/945943.html )

ClockHass - December 17, 2008 05:35 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Prince of Persia is supposed to be a real good game. I've never heard of the Last Remnant though, so I couldn't give a personal intake on that one on whether. I'd say try it out and see if you like it, or look online for reviews and such.

Ah you're forgetting the store where you can buy other game such as Call of duty and Fallout 3 and Farcry 2 and even Grand Theft Auto 1-4.

Zero Punctuation reviews always go on about Prince of Persia being quite good
Also might be a good place to look at if you want idea's on what games to get.

Magnum_Wolfire - December 19, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
Ah yes. THe Last Remnat commercials looked pretty awesome, and so did the Prince of Persia game.(Actually, this PoP is the first PoP that has ever sparked my interest)
