Title: What Would Be Awesome!
Emotionless-Geek - December 17, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
Is a sonic battle styled game, featuring everyone in Hellblaze, or well every character.
Mystic - December 17, 2008 09:24 PM (GMT)
It would but also close to impossible
Actually I thought an RPG sort of game would work better personally.
technogeek - December 17, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
agreed emotionless it would be awesome...but change everyone to h.c.regulars and up and i think its more feasable
ClockHass - December 17, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
It was actually tried a year or two ago. Sephiroth was in the process of making a fighting game, but he lost all of his data, and Gameshrk tried to create an RPG awhile back as well.. I had my own started but the program started miraculously not working. So yeah.. It's a good idea. I'd recommend looking into it, but I'm not sure if enough people have sprites for a project like that.
Emotionless-Geek - December 17, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
Well when i say everyone, i mean everyone who was willing to submit a sprite and wanted there character featured. I was thinking it should be more along the lines of solely a fighting game as opposed to being an adventure/fighting game. And didnt think it should feature an online component until just now
Dark Mage - December 18, 2008 12:25 AM (GMT)
I'd do it but I'm lazy and wouldn't want to have to sprite so much.
Plus I hate the idea of DM having to fist fight.
blazermax - December 18, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
What you should do first is practice by making the game with just your character first so you know exactly what your doing. Then try adding other peoples characters in later.
ClockHass - December 18, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
That's an excellent idea.
If you're interested, try that first and then make a thread about a game. I wouldn't suggest making a thread without a solid idea or some work already started. I recon you can probably find quite a few from myself because of that.
Zerosen - December 18, 2008 05:19 AM (GMT)
I agree with Blazer.
ya gotta keep things in check, plus test the other sprites too to make sure they're working right. As for the thread I got no clue about that one
Mystic - December 18, 2008 09:43 AM (GMT)
It would be a lot of work to make the game decent, but then that said it could be quite an iteresting experience.
Emotionless-Geek - December 18, 2008 01:30 PM (GMT)
I was just speculating, i never said i had plans to make the game XD. just thought it would be awesome *points to title*
blazermax - December 19, 2008 11:29 AM (GMT)
Im just giving some helpful info for when you do decide to start it :B):
Soul_Gatherer3000 - December 21, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
And you will start it. If you don't, then the rabid gorillas will have to have their way with you. I can't promise your safety if you dont comply. Anywho, you're right, it does sound awesome. However, there would be some character issues. For example: I can't ever recall DM laying a hand on someone. Sure he fights, but nothing physical, well it's physical, just not, well you get what I mean. Point is, we'd have to arrange somethings. Most people want their character to be better than everyone elses, I reapat, most people, not all. I, for one, have god modded Mallekai in my mind so much that his strenght, under certain cercumstances, is more retardedly incredible than what you'd see in Dragon Ball GT. Honestly, there would have to be alot of compromise. Then again, you said it would only be for those who wanted to be in it. However, I'm sure plenty of people would want to be, it's a kick ass idea is it not? Anywho, my point is, wwell one of them anyways, is that my first point might be somewhat void if those unbalanced characters weren't part of the idea. However I'm just listing possibilities, not verry positive ones at that. I apologize for the babbling but I just felt it had to be said.
VirusZero - December 21, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
Hmm, could do like in some number based RP's I've done on other sites and have a stat limit...
Like give each character a set level for them to put into their abilities as they see fit. So like say give them 40 points into the main 7 or 8 stats. (Agility, Speed, Strength, Defense, Dexterity, Special ability Skill level, Constitution. Or something like that.)
So then have the stats be like:
Agility - How quickly you react, how fast you dodge
Speed - How fast you move around, how far you dash, how fast you attack.
Strength - How physically strong you are
Defense - How strong your defense is
Dexterity - How accurate you are with your attacks
Special ability Skill level - How strong your special attacks are.
Constitution - How much health you have, how fast you regenerate.
ClockHass - December 21, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah.. I actually had an amazing character template once for an online RPG I was making, but I lost all of the data, save a few characters but I don't have the meaning of any of the things on the template now.

Cool sprite movie Blazer! And kudos to CrazyEight901 on the awesome vid
Emotionless-Geek - December 25, 2008 06:50 AM (GMT)
Well if i were to make it, then i would def have to balance every character not to mention come up with a ridiculous plotline that featured every featured character.
If i were to do it, i would probably only get the sprites from the creators, and that would most likely be the end of there involvment, because it wouldnt be a community type thing.
(I dont kno if i like being raped by Gorilla's so maybe in the distant future)
Sephiroth - December 28, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
Well i tried to make something like this a few years ago, just like Sae said...it was a very ambitious project, but do-able...in fact, when i started to get the hang of the program that i was using to create the game, i actually thought that i could finish it in no time. But unfortnaly my old comp used to die on me quite frequently and one day it died for good. After that i tried to revive this project, but found myself full of other matters to attend to...so the project stayed dead. Anyway, if anyone is up to continue this new idea, i will suport you all the way. I can even give some tips about what is the best fighting game creator software to make this type of game...really if anyone is up the challenge i will gladly help, since this is also, one of my oldest dreams that i let die...and i would like see it come true.
Dark Mage - December 29, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't want to be part of it as a playable character personally, plus I'm going to have to be the pessimistic one because VZ won't do it that this won't work, countless others have tried making a Hellblaze game and everyone else either got bored with it, lost the files or vanished off the face of Hellblaze.
How do we know it won't happen here?
I don't.
Emotionless-Geek - December 29, 2008 06:54 AM (GMT)
well... i should be getting a computer soon, really soon actually. So who knows i may decide to pick this up.
Dark Mage - December 29, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
Sorry to have to be the pessimist here mate, I just highly doubt that this one'll work when countless others have failed miserably for different reasons.

So it's like a curse or something?
VirusZero - December 30, 2008 12:58 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't say that... But if someone took the necessary steps they could counter just about every issue that could befall a project.
These steps would be:
1- regular backups of the project files (backups after every work session and save atleast the last 3 sessions so if you needed to revert to an older one for a piece of code or something you could.)
2- bookmarking of all links, resources and whatnot.
3- saving of all source materials.
4- Creating a duplicate of the backups on another computer and removeable media. This should be done roughly every week so your never set more than a week back if something happens.
(This way if the computers crash you should still have the project files on the other media. And you would ofcourse store the media in a safe location... not your jeans pocket on laundry day.)
Alternately you could stagger your backups... 1 on the computer, 1 to a jumpdrive and one on another computer(or possibly your own private website) and update them in that order.
That covers the data loss due to crashes and whatnot, but there are other issues.
Time- Schedule your time so that you put atleast 2 or so hours into it a week or something like this, even half an hour a day. But get into the habit of doing this and stick to it.
Commit yourself to the project - give it priority over something such as browsing the internet aimlessly for that half hour and do some work on the project.
Ensure that you schedule the time to work on the project when you don't have alot else on the go. Such as a fairly busy time in your social life or other major projects that your working on.
While your working on this project, don't accept new projects until this one is done.
And finally to prevent yourself from getting bored of it, take regular short breaks (such as work on it one day then not the next) so that you never get too tired of it and lose all drive to finish it. (Cause if you go all to it then your more likely to burn yourself out and not want to work on it anymore.)
Also, if you decide to take on a partner/helper or something for the project, make sure you know them well enough that they can be trusted to complete their part and not leave you hanging on the project half finished.
It's also a good idea to know exactly what they're doing on the project so you both don't end up doing the same work... So talk back and forth often about what your doing. Make plans of what your each going to do and make sure that if something comes up and you will be delayed that you let your partner know immediately (There is never an excuse for not sending a short email or something to let them know your running into issues. ) But if you do have issues, when they are resolved, be sure you get your work completed and sent to them, as they may need it as soon as possible.
I know thats alot to think about, but if you do use that model then the project is more likely to suceed than if you just decide to do it and leap right into it. (Jumping into projects half-cocked will usually result in thems going belly up before completion.)
Also, I'll tell you the same thing I've told others...
If you want help... fine, but before I help you, I want to see that your committed to finishing it. Show me some proof that your working on it and are committed to carrying it to conclusion. And for me, proof would be something like a few screenshots of the game in action, maybe a demo if you're that far along, but at the very least (well drawn) concept art. Cause if I put my time to it, I want to be assured that it's going to be completed.
That being said, show me the proof and I'll lend my skills. I'm not too bad a writer, so if you need a script I might be able to help out in that department. As well I'm not too bad of a spriter (just a bit rusty in that now... and I kind of lack the time to do large sprite sheets anymore. So this would be a limited capacity role at best.)
Dark Mage - December 30, 2008 04:04 AM (GMT)
I'll help out with dialogue if you show me a basic idea of a storyline that I can work with, I'm a writer and it's what I do.
Soul_Gatherer3000 - December 30, 2008 11:54 PM (GMT)
I can do nothing but cheer you on, should you decide to start this beautimous project, seein' as I fail at all thing failable. ^ ^ Anywho, if the dream becomes a reality I'd be honored to be a part of it.
PS: I'll ahve to watch that vid later, current circumstance prohibit me from doin' it at the moment.

I don't think that this type of fighting game needs a very deep storyline, nor a very complicated plot. As long as there is a main villain and reasonable suspense to it and if all the characters can have a decent conection between them...this formula is sure to make a good game out of it. I too am good at creating stories, not writting, but creating a good fantasy story with lots of twists and nice conections between things. So, yeah, i could also help with the dialogue...if needed...just pm me.
And yeah blazermax, it does look like it, doesn't it :-_-:
Emotionless-Geek - December 31, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
sooo much feedback!!! Well the loose story i have came up with is, HellBlaze a cafe, is holding an underground tournament, and the winner gets a trophy that houses the 7 Chaos Emeralds. The ringleaders of the tournament are the black twins of heaven and hell.,.
In order for me to have more i would need a list of all the people who want there character to be featured.
| CODE |
Character Name: ReferencePicture/Sprite: Likes/Dislikes:
Stats
Power: ☆☆☆☆☆ Speed: ☆☆☆☆☆ Range: ☆☆☆☆☆ Defence: ☆☆☆☆☆
Special Abilities: Special Items:
|
copy and paste the above and then send me a PM. The maximum for each stat is 5 stars, though each character may only use 10 stars all together. Just write in your abilities and items and ill go from there.
Chances are that i will have to create every sprite from scratch so dont bother sending a full sprite sheef

I might need a few extra details, I guess I'd need to know all the playable characters and the antagonists, etc etc first, PM me them.
Emotionless-Geek - December 31, 2008 08:10 PM (GMT)
@DM: I dont know the playable characters yet. I have to wait until whomever does want there character featured lets me kno. I dont wish to step on any toes and create something thats not true to the characters, nor do i want to have someone be apart of something they want no part in.
Soul_Gatherer3000 - January 1, 2009 12:16 AM (GMT)
Every sprite from scratch? Ouch yo. Well, more powuh to ya. Anywho, I'm definitely in, I'll send you a pm later.
Emotionless-Geek - January 3, 2009 01:45 AM (GMT)
yea, im out to improve my spriting skills and i wish for all the characters to be in the same art style. We may or may not have animated cutscenes
