Ok, I will say it now that I am INCREDIBLY stupid sometimes, I left my friend's house and I closed my laptop before it shut down, not knowing it hadn't shut down, I get home and it's overheating, I swore a bit and after letting it cool down and cleaning it, I notice a bit of a burn mark on my laptop screen, I can tell cause that part of the screen's brighter then the rest.
How can I get rid of it WITHOUT having to replace it?
That sucks >.<
I'm sure if you send it back to the computer company you bought it for they'd be able to replace the screen but with Laptops sometimes it's better to just buy a new laptop.
When cleaning it, did you use chemical cleaners? (If you did, consider yourself lucky that the laptop still works. Manufacturers recommend against chemical cleaners because they can damage the screen and internal workings. Depending ofcourse on what chemical cleaners you used.)
But if it's still under warranty, short of sending it off for repairs, there is nothing you can do.
If it's not under warranty, then it's probably going to be pretty expensive to replace the screen.
The only thing you can do is let this be a lesson... check your laptop to see that it's off before closing the screen. Especially since lcd screens are affected by heat, and in normal operation a laptop can become quite warm... 50 degrees celcius (or about 132 fahrenheit) easily. So you put something pumping out 50 celcius degree heat in a confined space and the temperture will quickly rise to LCD destroying levels of over 70 celcius.
I clean the screen with water and a paper towel when the laptop's turned off.
It still works perfectly, it's just a tiny mark that's lighter then the rest of the screen.
It seems smaller today though so I might be lucky enough that it will fade.
And yes, this IS another lesson, and I feel very stupid.
