If there is already a topic about this, I apologize in advance.
Okay, okay. I know this game is old, but it still is a pretty kickass game in my opinion. Made by both Nintendo and Rare, Killer Instinct is pretty much Rare's way of saying "Up yours!" to Midway and Mortal Kombat. Personally, I enjoy both games, but you'll sooner catch me playing this before I play MK. Why you may ask? Simple. It was the first extremely violent game made by Rare. Donkey Kong Country wasn't violent. I don't care who you are, it just wasn't it. I personally was glad when this was released(Of course, I was only four and went searching for it at the age of ten.) and still am glad that people make these games. Keep up the good work at finding excellent games like this.
Some people may just call it a MK knock-off, but it wasn't. Actually, this game referred to both Street Fighter and MK. Killer Instinct's Jago reminded me of Ryu from Street Fighter so much, that I almost mistakenly called him Ryu. They may not look alike, but he sure does have his moves down pat. The similarities that are between KI and MK are only the death system. Certain stages kill people when you uppercut them near the edge of something, while other stages you are on your own. Also, the names of the fatalities or "No Mercy"s aren't their either. I just called it (insert name here)'s finisher.
The major difference between this game and SF as well as MK is the Combo system, if KI didn't start it, there wouldn't be one. From triple to ultra combos, this game had all of the combo names. Super, Hyper, Brutal, Master, Awesome, Blaster, and a couple others are in between those first two I mentioned. My favorite character to play with is Jago, but the most combo able is...well...you'll see in a sec...
