Title: How much is too much?

Would you spend $8,000+ on a computer and hardware to make it faster than any commercial computer out now? Were talkin 8 ghz processor, massive amounts of ram and all that? What would you use it for?

I definitely would. It'd definitely stop my music software from lagging when I'm trying to EQ everything which really pisses me off. Hell, I'd have room for so much more and be able to do so much more with it. I'm sure I'd find many uses for it as I used it more.

Well yeah, for that, but even still, do you really need all that? and even so 8k?

If I had 8000$, I wouldn't be buying a computer...

But, if I were getting a new computer... I would likely look at the supercomputer lines. Stuff that is server level hardware.

As for what I'd do with such a powerful machine? Any thing I wanted. As it would be able to run just about any game I threw at it.

Only downside is that I'd likely have to use vista for the os... Seeing as windows 7 isn't out and the hardware would likely not have the drivers for XP. (Though if it did have XP drivers, that would be great.)

Same opinion goes here...i mean, if i had that kind of money i defnatly wouldn't be spending it in upgrading my pc just for the fun of it...even tough i've had alot of problems with computers these past few years, i ussualy tend to settle down with computers that satisfy my needs, wich means, helping me out in doing some college works and other stuff. Rarely install any games on my pc's...i kinda prefer to play video games in video game consoles. Wasting money on upgrading your computer isn't really that vital, but like we say here in Portugal, everyone as their own "stubborness".
