Description: do you agree with it?

TEXAS (CNN) -- In light of recent terrorist attacks, the Department of Homeland Security has issued a ban on all sales and distribution of the 1997 hit video game, Final Fantasy VII
The game involves the main character, Cloud Strife, planting bombs in power plants in a heavily populated city. The protagonist works with the terrorist group "Avalanche" bombing locations throughout the beginning of the game.
The decision was made only hours after the bombing of a chemical plant in Fort Worth, Texas. The FBI is still hot on the trails of the culprit, going by the hacker alias "frootloops". An FBI spokesperson told CNN at the time that investigators have already seized equipment in the culprits house, but frootloops was nowhere to be found. "Upon confiscation of the equipment, we found a large collection of child pornography on the culprits hard drive." said the FBI spokesperson.
President Bush has already indicated he's opposed to Square-Enix role playing games. "Mario doesn't blow up power plants" Bush said on thursday. Mario was unavailible for comment.
Parenting groups are also up in arms against the game. "These 'role playing games' are teaching our children to use magic and summon demons, they're destroying our childrens future and making them worship satan. We can't allow this to continue." Various forms of Magic have been a staple of every game in the Final Fantasy series dating back to Final Fantasy released in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. "It's almost as bad as Harry Potter!" A parent who wishes to remain anonymous said.
Sen. Hillary Clinton also is highly opposed to the game.
"First Grand Theft Auto, and now this. I'm starting to think we should just ban all video games. Final Fantasy VII is an awful game, and should have never been created in the first place. I mean, look at the size of Tifa's breasts! They're destroying our childrens future. The problem of explicit video games is spiraling out of control." Clinton wrote in a letter to the head of the Federal Trade Commission. Tifa's breasts were unavailible for comment.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Target Corp., Best Buy Co. and Circuit City Stores Inc. have pulled the game from their shelves following the recent ban.

THATS IT, they've gone way too far, next they be telling people sonic is evil because he takes emeralds, or megaman is evil because he has to destroy the enemy, which incidentally exactly what bush seems to be trying to do with the war on terrorism? it dont matter if thats over now or not, its gone too far the media has to leave games alone, they arent the ones teaching kids to do this stuff, its parental neglect and media frenzy caused by massive blowing up of minor details, sure games are have violence in them but they don't say go out and bomb power plants or anythign like that, and oddly enough bush is mployign bombs in his attacks, so if he can get away with it why can't game makers use bombs in games where the only real victim is the pixels the bomb explodes.

pardon my lag but that is the bigest load of steming bull sh*t I have ever heard.
I wouldent know half the crap I know if it wernt for that game, belive it or not that game tought me alot, greek and noris mithology, some latien. if I hadent played FFVII I would be a completly diffrent person.
it says right on the box, "FOR MATURE" RATED T (or somthing like that)
its call final FANTASY for a reson. its not real, a fantasy, and any retart who gets the urge to go blow up a bilding because cloud dose it needs some help along with the stupid ass parents who raised him.
why cant the govenment just leave games alone, if a kid cant tell the diffrence between fiction and reality then that dont even need to be watching TV.
all the so called "demons and magic" are based entierly on mythology that has been around for 100s if not thousands of years, why is it such a problem.
if people (adults) took the time to find out what their trying to get baned thay might understand why gamers are so angry. in GTASA the only way to acsess that damned game is to willingly download a patch and install it on the PC version, or take a crap load of time to ttake the coding for the patch and convert it into gameshark code. the only way someone could get that mini game was if thay REALLY REALLY wanted it.
harry potter, so a kid is using magic because he wants to help people, and adults are all like "it t3h evile cus he b3 ussing t3h magics" has anyone ever stoped to look at the positive side, to look at how many kids picked up reading because of that book,
but back in the day when sh*t like this

and this

saying that war is OK and good and that the japanese are evil. and then putting it on comic books and selling it to kids thats a load of BS.
in short are presedent is a retard, and this is only the 1st year of his secont term, god the whole US is gonna be at the bottom of the ocean buy nthe end of his turm.
i am so moving to japan when I finish highshool and going to collage in japan

vz and worm, you raise very interesting points.. but as the last 5 years have served, what ever bush wants bush gets... he cheated his way into office for the first election, by having his brother Jeb, fcuk up the ballots in florida.. he started a war with iraq becuase saddam tried to kill his father during the gulf war, there for sacrificing 1000s of lives just so he can settle a 13 year grudge.. and as if that wasnt bad enough, he knew about the 9/11 attacks months before they actually happened, and the attacks could have been prevented.. bottom line is this, what ever bush wants bush gets and as fcuked up as it is, if he is against Square Enix, i feel sorry for that manufacturer.. because bush will be looking to ruin at every opportunity.. but then again this ban may be good for his business...
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
to add to that i didnt see that fcuknut say a dogdamned thing when they came up with that game "ethnic cleansing" where you are this white guy running through the ghetto blasting away various blacks and other minorities in an attempt to gain entrance to the subway system, where the jews have hidden to avoid the carnage.
and i didnt hear him say a fcuking thing when they came up with that game that lets you re-enact the kennedy assasination...
but he's quick to drop the ban hammer on sa right?
the worm who ate midgar - August 21, 2005 07:48 PM (GMT)

Black Angel - August 21, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
see, pam anderson is dying so she gets to say, do, and wear (or in her case not wear) what ever she wants because she is the object of everyones sympathy [/sarcasm]

worm, could you do me a favor and just upload the images to imageshack and repost them here? we dont want to get into trouble for hotlinking.. thanx :)
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
they actually developed a game like that? and it didnt get the creator completely crushed, that tears it too far, i mean human rights activist shoulda torn that apart in less than 1 second, where were they?
as for the mythology part you mentioned, the worm who ate midgar, Bush believes that they're fake, and tryign to disturb christianity.
yeah as for the porn thing ya know that never came up because that would be too logical, i mean you cant compare them otherwise Bush would look even more idiotic. i honestly dont get it they let so much actual stuff happen but blame the game thats not even that bad. have any of them actually played ff7? probably not, will they? no, it'd look bad if they played the game the only earlier declared was evil.
i hope square enix has a plan to counter this because if not think KH2 might not be allowed into US, which woudl ultimately mean no KH2 for everyone here, why? because one seriously screwed up person decided to hurt others and they blamed a game for it.
it just makes me angry and makes me wonder who the real terrorist is.
the worm who ate midgar - August 21, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
no one says anything about mercinary or any of the battelfeild games.
this is some doo-doo. what about halo hmm?
all the racisem and war going on, thats teaching kids to go out and shoot people, not FF7, its a load of crap, I cant even think strait right now .

this is where i see the difference in reality and the gaming world. in the gaming world if a place blows up you don't see anybody in reality get killed. in reality if something is blown up people die. there is my difference.
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
im surprised Bush hasnt killed metal gear yet, i mean seriously, it'd be way worse than ff7, if things keep going soon its gonna be illegal to own a ps2 (or ps3 by that time ) even in that article Sen. Clinton said she'd like to ban them. i dotn want to think about what would happen if they did, for sure i'd move.

yeah but economically speaking, because of the ban, more ppl will find them selves curious as to see what the fuss was about, therefore increasing demand for that particular game or manufacturer, and due to the limited supply, the price will naturally increase... :)

ha christianity my ass (no offence to any christans) I openly admit that im atheis, and am open minded, strange I people dont bother me, I belive that if you fell somthins wron you dont do it, thats how I regulate my life.
but bush is fighting his own logic. it blatently says in the bible that their will always be war and those that apose you and that it is gods way. but bush says that the reson hes doing all this is because he thinks its gods way. it also blatently says that you shouldent teach people who dont want to be tought, EX the people in the middle east that bush keeps kanoodling with.
he's fighting agenst himself, the fact that he's doing the exact opposet of what he clames to be his gide, proves hes hither out right lying or just stupid.....or both

me i don't believe in religion, i live my life my way, but Bush is just makign problems for himself, by doing this, i wonder at what point will the gamers begin to say screw this and start fighting these pathetic excuses and weak logic, i mean how much more before til everyone is offended angry and ready for action.
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
bottom line bush is an @sshole who has been fcuking up this country left and right ever since he was sworn in... 9/11 was one of the most tragic events in history.. and yet bush has managed to turn the sympathy other countries had for us into hatred... he says we are in the war because of osama, and the war on terrorism.. and yet we have been in it for a long time, 1000s of american soldiers were killed (although they cut that number drastically in the media, i know this because sambambam, my best friend and a fellow h.h. member, is over there now as we speak..) and there has still been no osama yet. ppl in this country are fleeing becuase they fear another attack, and you know what? their insticts are correct.. the world HATES us because we hasve an @sshole sitting in office, and ppl are too ignorant to realize that the actions of the president do NOT always represent the beliefs of this country. any body willing to take a closer examination at the last election will know that he wasn't the elected president.. hilary cliton on the other hand, is speaking from a mothers point of view, how ever there are ESRB ratings on the games for a reason...
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
Bush needs to be removed NOW, the terrorist he's fightign isnt Osama anymore, he's fightign the american public, with his ridiculous lies, load of bull and sendign the troops into combat when there is no need, with the most we can do is hope they're well.
BlackDevilX - August 21, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
Poor poor FF7... Sadly but its old. i remeber the article like a coulpe of weeks back. Its really idiotic considering all the other games having to do with this, such as silent bomber, where you destroy constant things with diff bombs, including napalm.
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
ok the person that sent me this article just researched it and said that it was a fake.. but becuase this topic has a lot of valid points about even worse controversial games and censorship, this topic will remain open.. :)
BlackDevilX - August 21, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
Lol yea they tried to ban it tho but no it wasnt happenin. Because why would they target one game out of all the war games n crap.
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 08:47 PM (GMT)
look the article may have been a hoax, but the points stated in this topic are valid.. as i have pointed out, there are a HELL of a lot worse games out there that ppl dont say sh1t about, but for them to say sh1t about sa, it absolutely ridiculous..
the worm who ate midgar - August 21, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
it seems like every one in the us, aside from the people I meet on fourms and the few frinds I have, are complet retards who cant seem to understand that our stupid @ss presedent just wants more oil and power, if i wernt for those stupid ass people who voted for him because he promised he was doing all this in the name of god.
what ever happened to seperation of church and state!?!
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
well least they aint gonna try, but still how come this article got so big i mean if it was a fake then why has it been taken so seriously? i admit yeah i though it was serious. and who ould want to cause people to think ff7 was gonna be banned and why

Black Angel - August 21, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
THANK YOU!!! when he talks about the banning of same-sex marriages, and abortion, he always comes at it from a biblical point of view... and the fcuked up thing is this... he spins it in such a way that is actually unnoticible to the general public who know that there is suppoesed to be a separation of church and state.
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
yeah buth there isnt alot that can be done, nothign would be done if anyone said about the separation of church and state and even if anythign was done it would be labeled as a "terrorist action to destabilize america"
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 09:04 PM (GMT)
unfortunately vz, as long as we have "baby bush" sitting in office, that will continue to be the case...
VirusZero - August 21, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
the next few years could be very rough. theres no way he can change it so he can stay in office for more than his term is there?
the worm who ate midgar - August 21, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
yah he has a bunch of people write his speches so he can twist his words without making himself look bad.
awile back a school was putting on a surprise play after 9/11 and at the end thay held up a banner that said "god bless america" and the school pricipal whent and tore the thing up because he said somthing like "no religion in school" or somthing like that but religion is the only way our presedent can get a point across
Black Angel - August 21, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
apparently he is not familiar with something called the first amendment... religion in school pfft.. he is an ass for doing that, there is nothing wrong with saying god bless america. when i was in elementary school, we did that for the Gulf War Troops, and they spoke to us via satellite thanking our class for the cookies, and letters.
this country was founded on christianity because that was the denomination of our country's forefathers.. in the pledge of allegiance, it says "one nation under GOD.." and on our currency it says "in GOD we trust" there is a difference between saying "GOD bless america/our troops" and reading the Bible in school...
the worm who ate midgar - August 24, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
COOKIES!!!!!!!!.............ehem.......I mean yes your right
VirusZero - August 25, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
and then there's the separation of church and state, which shoudl be enforced, i mean in this case religion is being used as an excuse to verify his actions. but then if you think about it doesnt it seem a bit odd, the al-quaeda uses the religion for justifying their attacks on america, sensing a pattern here, so i dont think it's coincidence that bush is using religion to fight back.
the worm who ate midgar - August 25, 2005 08:31 PM (GMT)
I never thought of it like that, and no it dosent seem like a coencadence
thefishofdoom - September 28, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
about separation of church and state bush as u all sayed he this rilgest stuff and no 1 cares but now the plege of is being chewed out I MEAN COME THER R MORE IMPORT THINGS GOING ON AND HE JUST TRY TO ATTEATION AWAY FROM HIMSELF
Black Angel - September 29, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
i really dont care about bush for many reasons but the main ones are that
1. He cheated his way into office, gore was the one who originally won the 2000 election, but bush's brother messed with the ballots for the state of florida (since that is the state he is govenor for..) dont you find it in the least bit ironic that the ones state that had a "problem" just-so-happened to be governed by his brother jeb? coincidence i think not! however, by the time this was sorted out, and Gore declared the true winner, he had already conceeded defeat.
Bush also had his brother strictly enforce the felon voting ban in the state of Florida Florida had not been strict on this before, not to mention, a lot of florida's population are ex-felons who moved to Florida in hopes of getting a fresh start.. and the majority of these people were labeled as felons if they had a few un-paid parking tickets.. does this seem fair? bush knew that florida was not going to vote for him and that was why he called for a strict enforcement, of this law.
2.
HE KNEW ABOUT 9/11 (<= 1st link click)
AND COULD HAVE PREVENTED IT! (<= 2nd link click) Bush had prior knowledge that there was going to be an attack.. there were signals and warnings doled out and yes, it could have been avoided. however, our honorable commander-in-chief, chose to discredit and ignore the warnings.
He also claimed that Air Force One was threatened when in fact, the story was made up. and I love the fact that the info regarding his prior knowledge of the attacks, was not released until after he was re-elected. My boyfriend and i saw this on the news.
3. He is sacrificed the lives of soldiers to settle a personal vendetta.. in other words, the invasion of iraq had NOTHING to do with the war on terrorism. It was also discovered that there was
NO LINK BETWEEN IRAQ AND AL-QAIDA.Bush said himself in a press conference that Hussein was dangerous and told us to remember that he (saddam) once tried
to kill his father.. the moment he said that, he made it personal. If he were to say that we are in war with them because of socio-economic affairs in that country, then yeah, i would have said ok.. but he would have been under scrutiny had he have done that.
4. He has managed to turn this country from the most pitied (after 9/11) to the most hated with this "war on terrorism."
So yeah i agree with you ticktac, he is trying to get the attention off of himself and his screw-ups in the white house, however he is not using religion, he's using war.

(SIGHES) I'm not surprised at all really, if something like this were to happen....Just a week or so ago, my cousin "somehow" convinced his mother to buy "Conker: Live and Reloaded"...And do you know what's so funny about all this?! She didn't know or ask what kind of game it was until me and brother told her. And she...went...OFF!
