Title: Noob talk
Description: what the heck do these words mean?

Gameshrk90 - March 31, 2006 04:06 AM (GMT)
I just want to know what the heck does 1337 mean and why some noobs say pwned instead of owned? I just don't know why so I'm asking.

leet or etleet and pwned is just fun to say and confuse your freands

Gameshrk90 - March 31, 2006 04:09 AM (GMT)
Umm...what?

VirusZero - March 31, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
it originally started off by hackers using it to show how elite ( that is how much better they are) than everyone else, but noobs picked up on it over time and they began using it thinking they were elites too, but now the meaning has pretty well changed from showing elite status to showing how much of a noob you are. but as for why people use it? its probably becuase some people haven't figured out yet that it isn't cool anymore or they like to tick people off or they just don't care.

Ok. Thanks. That cleared that up for me.

actually, they used it to describe the level of their hacker expertise. If you are considered an elite hacker then you are considered to be one of the best (in the group of your fellow hacking peers), and not better than anyone else. but yeah it is pretty sad that others use that word to describe themselves..

as for pwned, i heard that someone mispelled "owned" (accidentally) while playing an online game, and it somehow caught on.. :)

I thought that's what happened but I was never quite sure.

Yeah that sounds reasonable. Hmmm...I wonder who was the first hacker?

Black Angel - April 4, 2006 02:06 AM (GMT)
hacking has been going on since the 60's at least.. but in the 80's a new form a hackers emerged.. these "hackers" and called "crackers" and they serve to give hackers a bad name.. so hackers are have to stay low-key and stay separate from the otherwise ignorant public.. the difference being that hackers are responsible for the effectiveness of security software, and crackers being the ones who try to bypass it.. the biggest names in PC security including Mcaffe, Symantec, Panda, etc have a team of hackers that they hired whose only job is to test the security of the software at hand.. Hackers are employed, crackers are not. You be surprised as to how many people do not know this.. :)

VirusZero - April 4, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
but also the media doesn't show the difference between the 2 terms. so majority the people have no idea of the difference.

Black Angel - April 4, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
the media doesnt go in to detail because then they have to explain it.. some can actually pick up on the difference, and some would not.. but most choose to remain ignorant. :)

I agree whith you in that Black Angel.................sometimes is better for us to remain in ignorance to avoid certain problems or consequences.......That's exactly what evryone does in this case.......i mean evryone knows what haking is and what it does........and specially what benefits it brings................but we shoudnt forget that this kind of "job" is iligal and you can go to jail just by practicing it..........but most people prefer to ignore this and comit the act...................So people dont ever forget that haking is just as dangerous as kiling............and if you dont want to spent your life in prison............DONT HACK................

Black Angel - April 4, 2006 05:14 AM (GMT)
the hacking you are refering to is known as "cracking" its crackers that you have to keep your computer secure from, its crackers that try to get illicit access to your computers and personal information.. more info as posted in this topic.. (<= click.) :)

Well I just got a grammer lesson. Thanks. I didn't know

Okay urvybody. Some people remember my little public service announcement but sometimes I need to refresh people's minds.

n00b and newb: The difference counts.

A n00b is a mosh of things. It can range from being a jerk, basher, someone who has been on a website for awhile and still doesn't know the rules, or a begger. These are the morons to look out for. A newb is a shortaning of the word newbie, something that everyone is at least once or twice in everything they do, whether it be a gamer, a salesman, a mother etc.
