Mcaffee Antivirus... I'm not thrilled with it, but since my university provides it for free, I'm not going to complain.

However if I was going to buy antivirus... I wouldn't pick Mcaffee.

Why? because it eats alot of memory. (Not quite as much as I found Norton Antivirus took. But still a sizeable chunk. Currently Mcaffee is taking 50-60 megs of ram, just idling. )

And when you couple a few programs on that it tends to bog things down rather quick. Plus I've heard Mcaffee isn't the greatest antivirus there is...

Wow I didn't even know that there were this many different kinds of antivirus.
Then again I shoulda guessed there were. Hell I didn't even know Norton was that bad. I've used it to. I thought the slowness was beceause I was downloading lots of crap back then when I used it...
(When I had Norton I had Kazaa and I didn't know that downloading from Kazaa brings risk back then. X.x' Both of those probally coupled and killed that compy. Well... Got it reformatted...)

I use Norton 360, it was the best virus protection where we went to get virus protection.

Another reason I don't like Norton is because they like to narc on you.. so let's say that you don't or didn't update your subscription to their service, for whatever reason, be it a new software, or you are considering switching to linux or whatever your reason is, they will send an email to your isp, broadcasting your online activities.

Be they legal, or not.

Just ask Mr. Nest.. it happened to friend of his.

They then contacted him indicating that Symantec was the one who reported him.

I do not respond well to extortion. so even though I have a legal copy of Norton SystemWorks, I will never renew my subscription.

So them screwing up my system, and other software installed to protect it, aside, I just wanted to give a reason for not liking it that didn't include their functionality, or lack thereof.

Sorry to hear about your parent's pc fish.
