Okay this seems to be a common problem to most people owning a k7s5a pro motherboard from ecs. But I still can't find a solution. I have absolutley no activity from any of my usb ports. They are all onboard ports. If anyone can find the answer it would be greatly appreciated. Just don't tell me that there are compatibility issues with pci slot one because i already know that and i have nothing in that slot

If this is a common problem then they probably have driver updates on the website... Try checking them to see if they have updates which solve your problem.

Then if there's no driver updates to fix it, (what version is it anyway? if it's less than 1.1 try updating to 1.1 via this site http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/BIOS/ECS/...-Bios-11.shtml) what about rolling back to a previous version? would that fix it?

And what does the website say?

(I've done some checking on this and as you say others have had the same problems... but apparently the manual says if you want USB 2 support you must use the back usb ports and that you cannot use the back usb ports and PCI slot 1. And for most people this route does work. However as you say you have nothing in slot one maybe you should:

1- check to ensure you have nothing in slot one then;
2- it's time to call tech support for this one finally if they can't help;
3- then it's time to buy a new/better motherboard... )

It's not a dead link, just look at the end of it. (I made a mistake and included a bracket, which messes up the link. Remove that and the link works fine.)

I know it may no be practical to buy a new one but if it doesn't work then you may have to consider it as an alternative if you want working hardware. (It doesn't have to be a new top of the line model, just a newer model that isn't afflicted by the same problems)

But please edit your posts if no one has responded by the time you want to add more info.

upload the picture to imageshack by visiting http://imageshack.us

then scroll down to where it says "direct link"

copy the link to the image

then click the "img" button, and paste the link you copied between the 2 img tags..

they should look like this..

CODE

Note: do not include the CODE tags..

This was what I got about the .rom extention so far..

http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/rom

The first description would apply to you since you recently updated your motherboard's software.

I am still looking into how you can open it.. from what I have read so far, it is supposed to be used by your memory..

but as I said, I'll look into this further.

sorry about posting the link incorrectly

i also didn't want every1 and their mother seeing all the files i have.

I guess it doesn't matter though. any idea how i open it through the memory?

I have a little bit of important information here.

I checked to see what version of the bios i was running and it said i was running version 1.21. I told my dad that i would update the bios from 1.21 to 5.0 and he said flashing the motherboard with the incorrect version of the bios could be catostrophic. I mean i could lose my mobo for good so im gonna wait. ANNOYANCE I NEED TO GET THIS WORKING AGAIN cussing.gif cussing.gif

Nope, I couldn't find anything.. the one lead I did find was never answered, because the guy who posted admitted to trying to open the wrong file.

Did you see this?

http://www.driverforum.com/bios3/4051.html

Someone else had a problem and that person suggested a possible solution..

So see if that works.. if it doesn't then you may be able to ask you question there as well.

and not that it really matters, (since the pic wasn't too clear, and we don't/won't care about your files..) but next time, just blackout any files that you don't want seen.

It's that simple.

This way you get the help you need, and it is one less pm that we have to worry about in our already full inboxes.. we are pretty busy as it is, without having to pm you for a screenshot when you can just post it.

At any rate, good luck with your problem, I hope you can find the help you need..

I had a similar problem like this, only it was a driver I downloaded from driverguide.com for my monitor. I ended up downloading it from somewhere else, because I couldn't find a solution.

Sorry I couldn't help you any further.. unsure.gif
