Well, today was my first day in High school. I'm a Freshmen now and I've come to see something.. People make a bunch of stuff up. =/ 1) People don't throw freshmen around. 2) It really is no different then the Middle School, aside from the structure of where the classes are... And it could go on I guess.

My classes do utterly pwn with suckiness though. =( I have like no friends in any of them... It's so depressing because how can I talk to them elsewhere? We don't get that much time in between bells, it's such a disaster. =( Where shall thou shine with his wonderful spirit of humor from here? Where? =(

Actually the stuff you see on tv about high school, do happen unfortunately.. just not in all schools.

When I was a freshman, I didn't notice the difference between that and junior high, until the second half of my freshman year.

Although, after your sophomore year, you should be able to tell what grade each student is in by the size of their backpacks (or lack there of) I actually mentioned this to Mr. Nest on a bus, and someone laughed, and said that it was true..

But don't worry too much about friends, some of the best friends I have today, I've known from high school. Three of them are on this forum.

It may seem odd at first, and you may even feel out of place, but tha usually goes away after the first week or so..

That was what happened with me.

I got screwed with only once during freshman year. It was on Freshman Friday, where the rite of passage is that a freshman is harassed by an upperclassman during the day. I was only bothered once and the guys who bothered me were pretty cool and apologized afterwards. IF anything you have to keep the mentality of "shizz happens" and you'll be fine.

I know the feeling too well of knowing no body in your classes, but as you get a chance work with others in class get to know them and then you may have someone to talk to.

It actually took me 2 weeks to realize that a few of the students in my history class, had spanish, and english class with me, and a few of those in my art class, had math, and gym class with me..

and these people all had lunch at the same time as I did, and that made it even easier..

those are your common points right there.. and is therefore something that you can build upon..

Well that's usually what I do, but people in other period with me only share about two or 3.. Last year there were some people who basically followed the same schedule with maybe one difference.

Don't worry about friends. It took me a couple weeks to start warming up to people and them to me.

I can say i've made some really good friends during my freshman year.(i'm a sophmore now BTW)

High School is Fun : D

Don't worry 'bout it TOO much. I do know what its like, expecally with it baing hard for me to talk to new people, but eventually even if your like me you'll meet new friends.

Its even eayser if your a good drawer. XD

I'm not saying its a good idea, but people tend to be attracted to others and wana talk when they see something cool about you. I'm not trying to say throw out all your old clothes and pose as a skater, but whatever it is you DO do, do it proudly and you'll be knoticed. My whole school seems to like a good freehand sketcher. =p

Well... that's what people like about me.. I'm just me... I hang out with who I want, I wear what I want and do what I want. But.. Even as I've become more social I've found it hard to talk to people unless I understand them a bit first..

Im starting Freshman year on the 5th of September, as i just discovered today by one of Blazers many annoying friends ehh.gif

I talk to anyone and all around hang out with anyone as long as their good people. Preps, emos, punks, skaters, goths, ghetto-fabs, and those people who just dont fall into a catagorey (AKA: people like me)

At first I'm kinda shy around people but i just have the ability to strike up random conversation with anyone i find interesting, so that's basically how i make friends tongue12.gif.

The only thing I'm worried about in high school are the classes and keeping track of work and blah.gif

besides that, i dont really care if i make friends, although it would be nice, it's not a dependent for me .

I have come to learn that making new friends is a double edged sword..

If you are too outgoing then they'll say that you are trying to hard, or starved for attention etc..

But if you are shy, and keep to yourself, then they'll say that you are stuck up, or think that you think that you are better than everyone else..

Personally, I just don't concern myself with making new friends, and I'll leave them to their own devices. If they want to talk to me, then they can approach me.. I realize that that may sound conceited, but really, all I am doing is just leaving the ball in their court.

SK's final remarks pretty much sum up my attitudes about this.

High School. My first year as a freshman wasn't so bad. Especially since I knew a whole mess of people that went to my middle school. We were basically doing the same things we did in middle school. I thought myself that I was going to be seeing those, Freshman = Fresh Meat for upper classes, but I was wrong. That and the fact that I kicked major butt in the arcade that was right in front of my school helped me gain a couple of new friends, and enemies.

After that I moved to a different school because they had to shut down the one I went to for my freshmen year. It wasn't so bad for a new school year, although I was late on my first day. I really didn't want to go into my class at that moment because I knew people would stare at me for being late. I stood outside the class for a few moments and thought things through. I went inside, and well, people did stare at me, but not too many.

The rest of my year was alright. I still don't have too many friends, I probably have like more then 10 or so. I made quite a couple in the second semester of my year there, so I was happy. I knew quite a couple of kids too, that went to the middle school I attended for one year. It was quite strange seeing some of them, especially since I didn't talk much to them.

In a week I start my new year, and my brother is going to be in his freshmen year. He's alright, but he can be an airhead sometimes. It'll be an interesting year, that's for sure.

All in all, just enjoy yourself, and eventually you'll make friends. I still walk around the campus by myself, and I don't find it at all strange that I don't talk to people during my free time. I do say hi to the people I know though.

I guess that's true.. but for me, sociality has always been a big part... I sort of need it for some odd reason.. I don't know why.. but maybe if I just wait things will kick in. Last year was slow, I remember, but I made a lot of new friends last year too because I opened up.. I don't want to feel like I closed again..
