Why not simply rebuild it the way it was before, but a story or two higher, with the names of those who died engraved in marble as a memorial? If D.C. as well as the Port Authority Bus Terminal here in Midtown Manhattan, has these kinds of memorials, then why not include them in the rebuilding of Ground Zero?

This way those lost, will be permanently memorialized, and are an important part of the reconstruction, and the fact that it would be symbolic of life continuing to go on, and showing the terrorists that they can't control us.. in addition to that, couldn't the extra story or two in height could be the ultimate "Fuck You" to the terrorists?

Who needs the revamped design? Just rebuild the old ones the way they were with a extra story or two in height, and improved security enchancements?

Am I wrong for not seeing the problem with this?

no i don't think you are wrong but can you truly replace what we lost as a whole? people need to remember with out all the other stuff brought into it. i lost family friend and a job it is implanted in my brain and i use it to push forward no matter what i do in this life or the next. the problem comes in with money and credit of building the place. that is why it is taking so long.

Oh no, we cannot replace everything, but the idea surrounding the reconstruction, does not meet with the wants of those grieving.

It is like they are using the reconstruction, to redesign the area, as opposed to jus puting it back the way it was already. The guy who designed the freedom tower, had never built a building of that size before, and the guy they have supervising the construction, had NEVER done it before.. he was hired because he contributed more than 300k to Pataki's re-election campaign. They say that he was cosidering running for president.

You cant rebuild memories. You may be able to make it look like it, but why would you rebuild it in something that caused the nation to whimper. They knocked down a land mark. The debris there is now a landmark and ti is a reminder of a nation united, so to ACTUALLY build something on that is disrespectful in my eyes....however a memorial marble feild ro something with the names of people is a good idea

I see what you are saying and I agree with you 100%, but at the same time, by not rebuilding, we are saying that we aren't moving on you know? the empire state building has marble walls, and dc has marble monuments, so the two could be put together. The names being embedded in the walls on the ground (walk-in) level will serve as a reminder that they will not be forgotten, and the fact that they are on the ground level would symbolize and immortalize them as a part of the foundation. It would also mean that the terrorists cannot control us, and that would be the ultimate fuck you to them.
