Then DO NOT for the sake of your computer (and every one else's) allow that person to send you a file. If you mistakenly accept the file... DO NOT open it. Do not run it... It will give you a virus.

This virus is brand new, just released a few days ago, so be careful. The fix information might be the same as previous versions but its better not to get the virus in the first place... As I haven't seen the fix info for this virus posted yet.

Yeah probably... Variants exist for every virus imaginable. All you have to do to make a variant is change a few lines of code then send it out and it counts as a new strain...

this happened to me LOTS of time.

I had a guy on my contact list send me this message 10 times in a single day... Thankfully for that msn account I use trillian which I have set to "Always Ask" when dealing with file transfers. And because I was using trillian and not msn, the file that wanted to be sent was never show... just immediately blocked.

But even if someone just sends me a file I'll ask what the file is... and if they don't respond or respond vaguely like "it's cool, just accept it" or "it's a cool picture" then I refuse the transfer.

As I said, be wary of anyone who sends you a file marked:
.pif (page info file - a type of file that windows uses to )
.scr (screen - a screensaber program, but unfortunatly can also have a virus embedded in it to run on use...)

But also look out for these as well:
.exe (execute - your typical program extension)
.bat (batch - a set of commands issued used by the computer whcih can have viral code integrated to infect the computer when run.)
.cmd (command - like batch, a set of commands to be run by the computer, can also hold viruses to be run along with legit programs)
.com (different name for the cmd file)
or anything like this...
mygreatpic.jpg.exe (Double extensions like this are generally trouble... )

Yeah I got something from someone once, it was something like, "Are these your pics?" and then it had my email as the file name. Luckily I did a little experimenting and found out the file's name was created by some keywords used in the url broswer. Change a few of those and you change the file's name.
