Aim isn't much better... they add bots which are quite bothersome... Thats one thing I'm glad about msn/yahoo/gmail, they don't do that. Then there's aol's whole reputation... (aim is owned by aol so why should I expect aim to be run any different from aol? it's a better idea to err on the side of caution and not use aim for any sensitive situations... Just in case stuff happens.)

But Like I told BA, I believe that it could have been an improved spambot... One geared towards randomly generating email addresses and messaging them a preprogramed message or a randomly chosen line of messages.
(The technology is certainly capable of doing this...)

Or it's simply a zombie computer out spamming addresses trying to send out a virus.

Well it's not that aim doesn't have it happen, you just haven't had it happen to you yet.

I've gotten spam from one of my friends once. So I told her to change her password.
But I've never had a random spammer IM me before.

Never used AIM.
AOL was hell enough for me.
I wasn't about to try another one of their products.

I severly dislike AIM for the fact that they have bots which try to add you, or add you without your consent... Seems a bit like a dubious mentality there... no options? you have to take it seems something like a hacker might try to slip in to your system without your knowing or consent...

Granted the bots don't do anything unless you talk to them, but still their mere presence could lead to future being spammed by advertisers... or whatnot.
