Yep.. we're nearly half a decade old..

...ur...kidding... right? my suggestion is keep this place alive as long as possible, to do so.. u may need to keep ppl moving/make a new site. well... just a suggestion

Nope, no joke. We opened on 10/10/04. This forum, just like any other has its periods of highs and lows. It may be slow now, but this place has seen a lot worse.

It'll pick up.. however, the staff here can only do so much, it is up to the members as well. Mostly everyone that is here whom have been with us for a long time have grown up so to speak, and with that, their priorities have changed.

I remember when this place was either Sonic, Final Fantasy, or BDX's SSA Series. (You can see this progression in this topic) He was 16-year old kid when he started this forum, and now he is a 21-year old grown man with responsibilities.

This forum has certainly grown significantly and quite impressively, I still remember joining in 2006.

This was the first I was ever accepted for who I was besides in my house, so this place is important to me.

I could revive this forum, but I need for yall to trust me like for starters, taking of this probation title

Touching story no joke. I understand and see you all have quite a history with this place. And has kept a lot of people going. i guess i could try and help out. even though im not quite the forum fan. but still a lil Chat box(Xat.com) wouldn't hurt. It'll give ppl a better chance to talk. trust me it works. i had that on my site, and i found alot of ppl used to just come around to talk about stuff.

I also understand the BDX has a HUGE inspiration on alot of people and animators out there alike... including me. To tell you the truth. My fan character Kixx and the animation wouldnt be around if it wasnt for his animations. And thats mainly why i respect him so much.

@coolman Lolz your on probation? And i second that. i wouldn't mind helping out.

Trust is something you have to earn. And after the stunts you pulled... You're lucky you're even back. If you want that title off, whining to have it removed is the quickest way to extend it's stay there. Work with what you got, prove that you're not the same juvenile kid you were before... Only then will it be removed. Understand?


As far as having a chatbox goes... We had one on the forum, but that failed entirely. People spent too much time there and ignoring the forum entirely. Plus the amount of idiots spamming it, and overall time needing to police it was by far too much. Plus it generated a bit of lag on the forum for anyone with less than superb internet. Overall it was more trouble than it was worth. Forget the cbox idea.

That's why you use Xat.com. no lag, as for spammers you can Ban, Kick, Mod, de-mod, own, de-own who ever when ever you want. As long as your the owner or main owner it really doesnt matter you pretty much own. I can explain how you can fix the policing problem, i typed it before, then my finger slipped and something happened, then my text was deleted... and it was really long, and i dont wanna type it again, but to make it shorter. "When i have full router usage again, i can help out with that".

You might be enthusiastic about it, but we're not looking for another one. So leave the issue be.

On the off-chance that you are asking to be promoted in a round about way, because coolman did mention that "we'd have to trust him" and there'd be no need to say that if a promotion wasn't what you were implying... to that, I say, that in all honesty, we don't need anymore staff, and like VZ has said, we had a chatbox here and that only lead to further decline of the forum. In fact, the members who were most active in the chatbox, followed it to bdx's website when it was causing many problems here.

The staff we have now, are some of our oldest members. In fact, VZ, was promoted to admin back when I was doing all I could to revive this place and AJ was promoted to gmod.. both were extremely helpful and supportive and they worked with me when we were trying to get back up and running.

That is the way we pick our staff here. We have to have a feeling about someone, and we have to observe them for a long time. We have to look at their behavior, and we have to see how well they'd handle a situation as it comes up. This exactly what happened. They did not have to say anything about how they'd be able to help out, and how trustworthy they were. They just took initiative, and proved how trustworthy and helpful they are.

This is why we have a rule about asking to be staff. It is annoying, it only hurts their chances, and other than what I mentioned, there really is no set criteria to follow when it comes to who we are looking for. Asking for a promotion only eliminates that person chances, and if that person was banned after being given many, many chances to change their behavior, then this leaves that person with even less of a chance of being selected.

Coolman, not for nothing, I have seen you on other forums, and I have seen topics where the admins, and staff of other forums say that others should be on the look out because you are a troll and/or spammer. I have seen the same thing written in their signatures. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I am holding you accountable for things you've done there, because that would be like comparing apples, to oranges since every forum is different. But here, your reputation is not the greatest, and I'd be lying if I said that I didn't see the similarities in what they are saying, versus what you have done here and our reasons for warning or banning you. I've read what they've had to say, and knowing your past behavior here, it was as if it was written by one the staff here. Yes, you have been great so far, but that is not enough to go on. We need to see your behavior over time, rather than words, and that will take a while considering your track record here.

You guys may not realize this, but you, as members, are in the best position to help, because not only can you post, and start topics, but you can motivate others to do the same. If you start posting, then out of curiosity, others will end up reading your posts and will likely post replies or topics of their own. You guys can actually post and enjoy the forum, while having none of the responsibility of running it. The staff here, has to be concerned with running this forum, in addition to any others that we may have to run, being active, as well as having other obligations, since a lot of us are adults with responsibilities. We work, we go to school, and we have families that we have to take care of. That is not to say that we don't enjoy our jobs, and helping others, its just that we are not able to enjoy the forum as much as you guys.

If it were solely on the shoulders of the staff, to be active here, then eventually it gets to the point where it is just the staff talking amongst themselves in each topic here. Who is going to want to be on a forum where in each topic the staff, elites, and a small handful of members are talking amongst themselves while the newest or non posting members stay nothing, even though they log in every day?

The staff puts in a lot of work, and the elites, and a few members have put in a lot of effort as well. But what about the newest members, and the non posting members who can post topics asking when the next FFSX episode is coming out, or if they can use the Aeon sprite sheets, or saying how there isn't anything to talk about, but cannot seem to post topics of their own, or even reply to any of the topics we have here?

As I have said, the staff, and the other members have done, and are doing all they can to keep this place afloat, but you guys have to step up as well.. and if you are really dedicated, then you would not allow a usergroup to determine whether or not you can help out here. There have been members that were on probation, and still are that have been, and are still helpful here. If you are dedicated, then you would do what you could, regardless of whether or not you are on probation, because unless a person is in a group that is restricted from the media, mature, or the community sections here, then someone who is on probation, can do the same things as a regular member.

Keep that in mind.

About the chat box thing, I dunno. I have been thinking of moving it back. As for spammers and such, they can get banned and everything. Wasn't that bad of a hassle, considering i can promote mods and such.

Let me explain the convenience of having it. Yeah, it may have taken eyes off of the main forum, but at the same time, it was EASIER to bring topics to notice. Second, communicating with other users was a breeze, without having to go all the way and check PMs. Also the box did attract more people. Plus it was easier for people looking for me to get a hold of me. Sometimes I have to say, this forum at times feel a bit too strict. At least the chatango made things interesting. As for lagging the forum, Since it was an embedded player totally different from this site, I found no lag. Also at the same token you have to figure, when i release a flash, it isn't a small file. If they can watch it and load it properly then there is no reason they couldn't come here. Its hard to say really.

Well before BDX, i was also about to mention how easy it would be to communicate with people. But i guess he beat me to it.

@BA: I was worried about making the wrong impression and making people think i just want to be promoted. Well the thing is, ive been asked to be promoted on sites before because you know, i helped out a lot. But most of the time i turn em down, because i know i dont hang on forums a lot. That is why i asked and being so persistant on the chatbox idea.
Mainly i just help out as much as i can and if i'm needed. i don't really care much about the promotions. But you put a pretty good point across Angel, and yeah ill keep it in mind.
