I didn't see this in the topics so I thought i would mention it.
I love Astro Boy, or Tetsuwan Atomu if you're one of those people who can't accept that a show can have multiple names and still be the same show.
I won't even get into the whole Rockman/Megaman issue, even though the creator himself said HE was the one who wanted to call it "Megaman" but didnt think the series would survive in japan if he changed the name...

but i digress. I really want to see this movie. Even though Doctor Tenma, apparently, is now suddenly a loving father where he never was before...
Yeah it's a little effed for people who remember the old series and loved Professor Ochanomizu, who won't be appearing in this film btw. At least not as far as I know. But at least they didnt use an extremely girly voice for Astro/Atom. And they seemed to have made him a little older than his previous incarnation, which is sour news for all you pedophiles out there who enjoyed all the child-rape innuendo's from the black and white cartoon.

But ultimately I do want to see the movie, regardless of the story change.

[edit] I guess Prof. Ocha is called Dr. Elefun like in the english dubbed cartoon. So he is in it. It will probably go alot like the 1980's series.

It's not unusual to be loved by anyone.

Too bad our old buddy Nic Cage is starring in this as Tenma. Voice acting has been brought to a boring new level.

Well, Samuel L. Jackson is also providing a voice... so that makes up for nicholas cage. Though hopefully Jackson gets more screen time than cage. (I doubt it considering Tenma's importance to the story.)
Kristen Bell (Elle Bishop from Heroes) also has a part.
Eugene Levy is also adding his voice to the mix, so hopefully it'll be enough to blot out cage.

Still, I have no idea how Mr. cage manages to keep getting roles.

As far as the movie goes, I'm half-hearted about it. I mean I watched the original Astroboy (or reruns of it anyway.) As well as the newer 2003 Astroboy remake. But It just never really stuck with me despite the fact that I quite like the Megaman series and Astroboy is partially responsible for it.
I guess I wait and see what the reviews of the movie are like. Hollywood adaptions of classic manga/animes haven't been the greatest results ever so I'm a bit skeptical of that as well. (Dragonball evolution anyone?)

I agree about hollywood screwing up manga/animes. The worst part about the DBZ:Evolution movie is that it was produced by Steven Chow. Yes the man who made Kung Fu Hustle. But ultimately it was the director to blame.

I wish Dorian Harewood was doing the voice of Tenma. And I wish they used the plot from the 2003 Astro Boy series. I know it's not anywhere true to the original plot, but I've seen all three shows and some of the manga and I think the 2003 version of Astro Boy was the best. Well.. except that Candi Milo did the voice for Astro, that was like nails on a chalkboard, but i managed to watch it all anyway and I loved the changes.
